WHAT IS INVOLVED IN
GREYHOUND OWNERSHIP?
OWNERSHIP CAN BE AS A SINGLE OWNER, A
PARTNERSHIP, A SYNDICATE, OR THROUGH LEASING
A small price to pay for a great deal of satisfaction
Buying and training a greyhound is surprisingly inexpensive and probably easier than you might imagine. Costs vary depending on Greyhound &
Trainer, but an investment of as little as €1000 should deliver a promising
well-bred young greyhound. During the Greyhounds training programme,
the ongoing commitment could be as low as €300 per month.
In return you get to share the excitement and emotion of great racing as
well as the anticipation of success on the track, plus a share of the prize
money.

YOUR GREYHOUNDS
PERFORMANCE
As a rule of thumb, a Greyhound will usually reach its racing peak
at the age of two and a half. Your trainer will know the greyhounds
form and temperament best and will be able to guide you more accurately on what you can expect at different stages of your Greyhounds career.
Young Greyhounds starting out in their careers are likely to improve
with age and experience and some maintain their form for much
longer periods than others.
Did you know Greyhounds also make great pets, and are actually
surprisingly low maintenance? As your Greyhounds racing career
draws to a close, why not consider making them a permanent part
of your family? If that’s not for you, then speak to the Retired Greyhound Trust about having your Greyhound adopted.
