The Park is open every day throughout the year
but the Cafe and Shop are only open seasonally.
Come and enjoy a walk in land once
influenced by man through agriculture, forestry,
mining and industry, which today provides a
sanctuary and breeding area for all local wildlife
and offers an outstanding opportunity to relax
amidst beautiful scenery and varied wildlife.
Spend a delightful day in the dramatic Welsh
countryside where something can be found to
entertain the whole family. The Park is only a
short walk for hikers from Cardigan Town and
includes an exceptionally rich variety of plants and
animals in one of the most renowned beauty spots
in Britain—the Teify River Valley.
The access road is along the former Great Western
Railway track which runs down the middle of the
Park, starting at Cilgerran Village and ending at
the old Cardigan Station adjacent to the Cattle
Market, south of Cardigan Bridge.
Most of the Park has been designated by the N.C.C.
as an "Area of Special Scientific Interest„
The area is part of the well-known Coedmore
Estate owned by David Lloyd and has a history
going back to 1166. The 200-acre Park is of wide
interest and appeal -and includes marsh, woodland,
tidal mud flats, meadows, hills, thickets, rivers,
lagoons and reed beds and over 250 species of
plants have been found here.
Cardigan Wildlife Park
The Park is privately owned and managed.
It consists of an unusual variety of natural habitats
which form a valuable wildlife sanctuary.
The visitor amenities and enclosed animals are
placed discretely in existing buildings and
paddocks. The animal enclosures have been
created to add to visitor interest and to
demonstrate the profusion of wild animals which
were part of the Welsh environment within
historical times.
