What is Dyscalculia?
Dyscalculia: A specific learning disability that
affects a person's ability to conceptualize and
perform mathematics.
Students with Dyscalculia often have difficulty
learning and understanding numbers, math
facts and how to manipulate numbers.
Dyscalculia is believed to be a developmental
disability with a specific neurobiological cause
such as Dyslexia.
Treatment of a math disability requires an
effective, research-based, multi-sensory
approach. It also requires intensive intervention
addressing the underlying concepts of
mathematics, taught in an explicit and
systematic way.
The Reading Therapy Center, Inc., offers direct,
one-to-one instruction that remediates the
underlying cause of Dyscalculia for students
age 6 to adult.
