The Facility
MacRury Hall is part of New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) located in Concord, New Hampshire. Founded in 1965,
NHTI has grown from offering 3 engineering technology programs to over 62 academic programs with approximately 5,000
students and counting. Built in 1970, MacRury Hall is one of the primary academic buildings on campus, housing the
Radiologic Technology and Paramedic Emergency Medicine programs.
Project Scope
Yeaton Associates, Inc. was secured to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sustainable design services for the
renovation of MacRury Hall. The overall focus of the renovation was to provide updated academic space incorporating stateof–the-art digital imaging equipment for the Radiologic Technology and the Paramedic Emergency Medicine programs.
Project Result
MacRury Hall is now home to state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging labs, a dental hygiene clinic, science laboratories,
classrooms and offices. Variable refrigerant cooling, coupled with energy recovery rooftop units and gas fired condensing
boilers provide a high-efficiency HVAC plant for the building.

A natural gas fired, high efficiency, multiple boiler plant was
used to permit staged firing and maintain a hot water temperature reset schedule based on outside air temperature.

Variable frequency drives with digital interface capability
were installed to control pumps and other variable speed
allocations. The drives were interfaced with the facility
energy management system.

A high efficiency natural gas fired instantaneous domestic hot water generation plant was installed to address the facility’s hot
water needs. A recirculation system was installed to provide instantaneous hot water at fixtures.
Base-mounted pumps on inertia pads were used to circulate hot water through hydronic circuits.

Low water consumption, auto-flush plumbing fixtures
were installed to conserve water usage.

A new, code-compliant zoned automatic sprinkler system
was installed throughout the facility.

An acid neutralization system was installed to handle waste
from Labs. Plastic acid resistant pipe with mechanical joints
was used to handle corrosive liquids.

The Radiology Training Lab was fit-up with dedicated air
conditioning to address heat rejection from NHTI’s new
state-of-the art diagnostic medical imaging equipment.
