Beverly Bucanan`s Résumé

BEVERLY BUCHANAN
“My work is about response and memory. It is a process of creating objects that relate to the physical world through perception rather than reproduction. Remembering the look and feel of structures has long been a strong focus in my drawings and sculptures-‐-‐ the house and its yard and the road behind and across. Capturing the essence and something of the look and feel of now versus then is not easy. My shacks have always been situated in surrounding landscapes; the people who lived in them created and were sustained by gardens, yards, and fields. I have recently begun to focus in on flowers as features of these worlds which embody the intensity and contradiction of past and present.” EDUCATION
