What are we learning? Welcome/Course Syllabus/Calendar
Framing the Lesson:
 We will go over the syllabus, expectations, and calendar dates.
 I will be familiar with the course syllabus, expectations, and calendar dates.
TEKS/AP/Standards:

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Go over Course Syllabus and Calendar
 Fill out Student Information Sheet
 Icebreaker: Stand Up If…
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods:
 

What do I need to be successful?
Materials:
 Syllabus
 Calendar/Topic 1 – Tools of Geometry Packet
 Student Information Sheet
 Laptop
What do I need to before next class?
Follow Up/HW:
 HW: Look over Syllabus/Calendars, 1-1 Vocabulary
What are we learning? 1-1 Points, Lines, and Planes Day 1
Framing the Lesson:
 We will be able to understand geometry is a mathematical system built on accepted
facts, basic terms, and definitions.
 I will be able to distinguish between undefined and defined terms of geometry along
with applying correct mathematical symbols.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
 (4)(A): Distinguish between undefined terms, definitions, postulates, conjectures, and
theorems.
 (1)(D): Communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications using
multiple representations, including symbols, diagrams, graphs, and language as
appropriate.
Wed/Thur
Frequent, Purposeful Small Group Discussion
 Can you identify the three undefined terms of geometry?
 Can you compare a line and segment?
 How do you name a line in two different ways?
 What are the rules for naming a plane?
 What is the difference between naming and symbols?
Working Power Zone
 When students are working in pairs and independently, the teacher will be
monitoring student’s work.
Writing Critically
 Students will answer “What are the rules for naming a plane?” on the HUB.

Teacher will ask for questions on previous night’s homework. Teacher will use these
questions for student’s to answer in small group and as a whole.

What are we learning? 1-2 Measuring Segments/Midpoint and Distance
Framing the Lesson:
 We will be able to determine the lengths of segments.
 I will be able to use different algebraic processes to solve lengths of segments.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
 (2)(A): Determine the coordinates of a point that is given fractional distance less than
one from one end of a line segment to the other in one- and two-dimensional
coordinate systems, including finding the midpoint.
 (1)(D): Communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications using
multiple representations, including symbols, diagrams, graphs, and language as
