Dear Future Italian Ice Entrepreneur:
Jersey Ice Corporation produces Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Our grandfather started this business nearly seventy-five years ago with one Italian icemaking machine! Over the years the company has grown to include mall, store, tourist
area and downtown street locations. There are over 100 privately owned trucks and over
350 pushcarts located mainly throughout the USA and overseas.
Jersey Ice is now selling Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice businesses to entrepreneurs throughout
the United States. We believe this provides a great opportunity for us to expand our
business while introducing our wonderful product to people who would not otherwise
have a chance to enjoy our Italian ice. Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice is great as a new start-up
business in your area, as well as an ideal addition to an existing store or business,
and here is why:
First, there is a high profit margin selling Italian ice and no experience is needed.
Second, Italian ice is a delicious dessert that is low in calories, contains no fat, no
cholesterol, no high fructose corn syrup and no dairy or non-dairy creamer.
Third, our carts take up very little space and can fit in a pickup truck, van and SUV’s.
And while Italian ice is popular in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area, it is
virtually unknown in the rest of the country. That is where you come in!
By retailing our product, you will be providing your patrons with the opportunity to
experience something new, Little Jimmy’s Italian Ices, and soon they will love it as much
as we do.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our product, and we look forward to hearing
from you. If you have not done so already, we strongly urge you to E-Register on our
website (www.italianice.net) to receive videos, testimonials, and other information not
included in this package. Also, please fax in the sample form on page 13.
ThanksDennis, Tom, Jeff, & Anthony Moore

What does my Board of Health need to know about Little Jimmy’s
Italian Ice?
Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice contains no dairy or non-dairy creamer (which can spoil).
They are served frozen, whereby it’s nearly impossible for bacteria to build.
I would like to purchase one of your cart plans, but I do not understand
how the Italian ice product remains frozen in the cart with no motor, no
dry ice or block ice?
The Italian Ice maintains its temperature in the pushcart from the temperature of the other
frozen containers that are in the cart. There is no need for the pushcart to be motorized in
order to keep the product frozen. Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice is made for our pushcarts and
the pushcarts are made for our Italian Ice- a true Italian ice symbiotic relationship!
Dry ice will make the Italian ice too hard to scoop, and frozen ice cubes or block ice will
actually melt the Italian ice since water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, which is higher
than the freezing temperature of the Italian ice at 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are the most important things to do before I receive my first
delivery of Italian Ice?
Purchase Freezers- Have them plugged in and ready to go before you order arrives.
Choose a Cold Storage Facility near Your Home- If you do not have room for chest
freezers at your business or location where you plan on conducting your Italian ice
operation from, it may be more cost effective to have the Italian ice shipped directly to a
cold storage warehouse in your area.
Location, Location, Location- Italian ices, like all products, sell in places where there are
people walking by. That’s the great thing about a pushcart; you can move it almost
anywhere.
Health Department- Find out from your local municipality if there are any permits or
licenses you will need in order to start selling Little Jimmy’s Italian Ices. If you run into
any problems or roadblocks along the way, call us and we can help you solve them.
Most important of all - Have Fun!

A Family That Gets Paid Together
Jay Johnson is expert at finding ways to make money. He is a born entrepreneur, and has even
written a book, "Let's Get Serious and Make Some Money". Last summer, when he wanted to
entertain his thirteen year old son, Ross, the first thing he thought was, "What kind of business
can we have?" In addition to a low entry fee and quick profitability, Jay wanted to find a business
that would be fun, and zeroed in on the idea of a concession cart. He and Ross both like the
traditional frozen treat of Jay's childhood--Italian ice. The trendy frozen dessert suits everyoneit's nonfat, and it's better than ice cream.
Looking online for Italian Ice distributors, Jay ran across Little Jimmy's Italian Ice
(www.italianice.net). I liked the site immediately," he recalls. "It was easy to follow, and made
the business seem completely do-able." After researching several other companies, he decided to
visit Little Jimmy's operation in New Jersey. There, he felt at home. "We hit it off. The product
tastes fabulous-it's a family recipe. The whole operation is family-run and I like that. It means
they really have a stake in the business; they run their business the same way I run mine."
Jay bought a cart and some product and he was in the Italian Ice business! "It's that easy," he
relates. "Little Jimmy's is extremely helpful getting started. They are in New Jersey, and I'm in
Massachusetts, but they provided me with some events, and supported me every step of the way."
Within three weeks, he felt confident enough to call Little Jimmy's and order two more carts.
"I have a good network, and was able to find employees-all you need are people with choppy
schedules and a lot of energy," he remembers. It turned out that small, specialized events with
little competition paid off better than large fairs. He also got a space at the local Lowe's
Hardware, which was quite profitable, and a good place to market his service. "That's how I
booked a wedding-they tasted the product, loved it, and had an idea to offer it to their guests; as
something different. At that wedding, in three hours,
I made $1,000.00," he boasts.
Jay Johnson is choosey about location. "As long as you're mobile, make the best of it," he grins.
He looks for spots where he can market his business, as well as sell ice. For example, a car dealer
paid $1000.00 to serve Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice at a grand opening. Johnson recommends
experience as the best teacher for negotiating these deals. "I know how much my product and
labor costs are, and I can estimate the turnout at these events. Again, the Little Jimmy's home
office has been very helpful with tips-I get the benefit of all their vendors' experience."
The best part of the new venture, from Jay's perspective, was working with Ross. As the summer
progressed, the 13-year old became increasingly confident and polished, until finally, when two
bookings were back to back, Jay handled one across town, and Ross managed a 19-year old
employee at the other event. "I got a call from Ross at the end of Saturday, telling me he'd broken
our sales record, selling $1,088 worth of ice in six hours," Jay says proudly. "I offered him a $20
bonus if he could repeat that Sunday, and sure enough, at 6:30, he called to say, 'You owe me
$20.00!'"
By August, the Johnson team had racked up over $50,000.00 in sales.
Next year promises to be even better, in terms of profit and fun.
"If you have energy and enjoy people, this is a great way for the whole family to profit," smiles
Johnson.

Little Jimmy’s Entrepreneur John Young
As a high school teacher with three small children, John Young found he was having difficulty
making ends meet. Last year, his father Frank Young decided to help, and went online looking
for business opportunities for his son. When he found Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice carts,
something clicked. “I liked the website,” the elder Young explains. “We’re very kid-oriented,
and the Little Jimmy character looked like a kid-friendly brand. And what’s more appealing to
children than an ice cream cart?”
He learned the difference between ice cream and Italian Ice when he showed the site to his
son, who’s quite a gourmet. “John said real Italian water ice is hard to find,” Frank comments.
“We were so intrigued, we decided to visit the plant in New Jersey,” Young concludes.
A trip to Little Jimmy’s headquarters in Elizabeth, New Jersey, confirmed the excellence of the
product, and the Youngs purchased an introductory entrepreneur’s package. The cart they
bought fits into the back of John Young’s van, so they can load up and travel to fairs and
festivals easily. One of the first places they rented space was a children’s soccer camp, and
they’ve had great success at local street festivals in nearby Philadelphia, and historical fairs.
“At the 300th Anniversary celebration in White Marsh Township this September, we had our
best day ever,” says John Young. “We made $1,000 in a single day, and I couldn’t believe the
line waiting to buy!”
The business suits John Young on several levels—the initial investment is small, he can work
as much or as little as he likes, and the whole family can participate. “Everyone feels good
about the Italian water ice; it’s healthy—moms feel good about that,” he explains. Little
Jimmy’s traditional recipe has no milk, fat or cholesterol, and resembles sorbet more than
standard ice cream.
After having a Little Jimmy’s cart for over a year, the Youngs are enthusiastic about adding to
their Little Jimmy’s business—they’ve decided to add two carts for the next season, and hope
someday to have a storefront. John Young’s reached a decision: “I’ve researched franchises
and business opportunities for years. I’m glad I waited until I found Little Jimmy’s—it’s about
fun, it’s about family, and it’s about making a go on your own. That is a product I can be
proud to sell.”

Fort Apache, Florida
As you know, Anthony referred me to the Winter park event because he was already
booked for the weekend. After researching the historical weather for the March 17-19
event, I took a gamble and signed up for it. The entry fees were steep ($2000 plus 7%)
but the event looked good. I signed up my next door neighbor and his friend plus a friend
of mine from Pennsylvania to work the event. Big overhead costs---airfare and a rental
car for the PA guy plus hotel rooms for all of us. I was sweating it.
On that Thursday, I loaded up my truck with four carts, two chest freezers and about forty
cans of ice and headed to Winter Park. The town is extremely upscale (comparable to a
Rodeo Drive locale). The event is very large and has been around for many years. We
were given three locations: a double cart adjacent to the food court and on the main drag,
one cart on the main drag at an entrance/exit point to the fair and a single cart at the other
end, but located just off the main drag. The event ran from 9-6 every day.
Friday night we tallied up and the results were less than impressive. The double cart and
the single cart on the main drag did okay. The other cart only did $298...not a good thing.
I think we did a total of about $2600 for the first day. That night I read the operator of the
third cart the equivalent of the Riot Act. I told him that he needed to get off his butt and
start handing out samples and working the crowd. The next morning I also contacted the
event manager and arranged to have our low performer moved a little bit closer to the
action.
Saturday was warmer and the crowds were heavier. At just about 11:00 the serious action
started. Remember that I have three guys with me, one who worked the Boca Raton event
with me two weeks ago and two who had never scooped ice before. I was the seasoned
veteran with a whole month of scooping experience. We kept in touch by cell phone. At
about 2:00 I got a call from the other veteran...he was running out of certain flavors and
needed to restock. I left the double cart to help him. He was back in twenty minutes and I
hustled back to the double cart. The image was like "Fort Apache.” He was completely
overrun with people. He had two lines each ten-fifteen deep and was actually blocking
the pedestrian flow. In addition, he had people behind him asking about flavors and
prices. The two of us did not stop selling until 6:00 when it started to slow down a bit. At
the end of the day we tallied up again. My low performer had more than tripled his sales
from the previous day. It was a great day.
Sunday was a little bit cooler than Saturday and we did not do quite as well as Saturday
(except for my low performer who actually did still better on Sunday). To cut to the chase
we missed doing $10K for the total event by about forty bucks. Despite the high overhead
it was a very profitable weekend for both the scoopers and the owner. I believe that you
once asked me if I could see the potential. I believe that I had answered yes at the time. I
think that it is safe to say that this event served to realize the potential.
I look forward to working with you folks for a long time.
