Part 1: Project Instructions
1. Create a formula in D5 that multiplies two values.
a) Using the Point Mode method, create a formula that multiplies the Quantity by Cost for
Remy Human Hair in the formula bar and click the checkmark.
=B5*C5
Total should be 19,395.15
2. Use the fill handle to copy formula to cells D6 to D8.
a) Click on cell D5.
b) Move your mouse to the corner until you see the black plus sign.
c) Now click your left mouse button while you have the black plus sign.
d) Drag down to D8 and release. The formulas will fill in for you.

3. Use AutoSum to calculate the total cost of all hair products sold in D9.
a) Click in cell D5 and highlight to D8 with your mouse.
b) Go to Formulas tabFunction Library groupAutoSum. The total should be $ 56,251.74

4. Apply the Total cell style to D9.
a) Click on D9.
b) Go to the Home tabStylesCell Styleschoose Total.

5. Calculate the percentage of Total Cost.
a) In cell E5, use the Point Mode method to create the formula D5/D9. This calculates the
percentage of Total Cost of Remy Human Hair to the Total Cost of all the hair products.

Note: D9 must be ABSOLUTE in the formula. Absolute references do not change when using
the Fill Handle method. This is completed by adding a dollar sign that precedes the column
or row reference.
You will create the ABSOLUTE reference by using the following formula:
=D5 /$D$9
Notice the difference between the regular percentage formula, which is D5/D9, and the
absolute formula.
Using the Point Mode method, input the absolute reference percentage formula in E5.
Now use the Fill Handle to copy the formula to E6, E7, and E8.

6. Format using the Accounting Format.
a) Select cells C5 through D9 (highlight with the mouse).
b)
With this selected, go to Home tabCells groupFormatFormat Cells.
c) This brings up the Format Cells dialog box.
d) Choose the Number tabcategory ACCOUNTING
a. Choose DECIMAL PLACES: 2
b. Symbol: $
e) Click OK.
7. Format cells using Number Category.
a) Select B5 to B8.
b) Format using Number category, 0 decimal places, & 1000 Separator.
c) Go to Home tabCells groupFormatFormat Cells.
d) This brings up the Format Cells dialog box
e) Click OK.
8. Format cells using the Percentage Format.
a) Select cells E5 to E8 (E5:E8)
b) Go to Home tabCells groupFormatFormat Cells. This brings up the Format Cells
dialog box.
c) Choose Category: Percentage
d) Choose Decimal Places: 1
e) Click OK.
9. Apply Accent 6 cell theme style.
a) Select cells A8 to E8.
b) Go to Home tabStyles groupClick the drop-down arrow.
c) Choose Accent 6 cell style theme.
10. Rename Sheet 1 to Hair Products.
a) Doubleclick on the words Sheet 1 on the tab at the bottom.
b) You may have to backspace or delete the words Sheet 1.
c) Type in the new name Hair Products.
11. Create a 3-D Column Chart, apply Chart Style 6, color 4, and move.
a) Select cells A4:A8, D4:D8
b) Hold down the CTRL key to get both ranges selected.
Note for Mac users: Hold down the Command button.
c) Go to INSERTCharts groupInsert Column Chart.
d) Choose 3-D Column Chart.
e) Apply Chart Style 6.
f) Change Chart Color to Color 4.
g) Design tabChart Styles groupChange ColorsColor 4.
h) Move the chart so the left corner begins on A10. Change width to column E.
12. Save changes.
