Reindeer Games E ver wonder where Santa’s reindeer hang out when they’re not flying the jolly old man in red around the world to deliver presents? Visit the Grand Canyon Deer Farm Petting Zoo, located 25 miles west of Flagstaff off I40 in northern Arizona, and meet three of them—Comet, Cupid, and Vixen, along with a sleigh full of their favorite forest friends. If you’d love to get up close and personal with a menagerie of cute, furry wildlife creatures, then the Deer Farm is for you. Mo, the cockatoo, and Scarlet, the lilac-crowned Amazon parrot, will talk your ear off in the farm store. Once on the grounds, you’ll walk among 80 or so fallow and sika deer. Unlike deer in the wild, these guys aren’t at all shy about coming up to you for food and a friendly touch. Ignore them, and they may tug on your clothes or camera strap for attention. The Deer Farm is also home to many other amazing animals that you can learn about and interact with. There’s Gracie, the silly kissing camel; Ginger and Maryann, the eight-year old bison; Hope, the albino wallaby, and three of her buds, Dundee, Bindi, and Chloe. If you love babies, you’ll meet the two Patagonian cavies and the five new baby coatimundi. It’s a full house with Stormy the elk and Gillie the mule deer plus llamas, potbellied pigs, marmosets, goats, mini cattle, donkeys, and horses. Together, they make for one big, happy family of farm fun. For more information, call 928-635-4073, or go to deerfarm.com.
