Claite) – Bumped at the start. Over-raced for some distance passing the 1000m. Unable to obtain clear running from the 500m until near the 200m. When being ridden with the whip the gelding reacted adversely and veered inwards abruptly unbalancing its rider near the 50m. Trainer Mr S. Miller was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to racing again. ALLS GOOD (S. Parnham) – Bumped at the start. Tightened for room and restrained near the 50m. CHOSEN PATH (B. Parnham) – Slow into stride. NIGHT AT THE OPERA (W. Pike) – Raced wide from the 600m. OFFER ME JEWELS (P. King) – Steadied approaching the 1600m crossing. General: On inquiry it was established that ANYTHING MORE (J. Claite) when being ridden with the use of the whip reacted adversely resulting in the gelding veering inwards abruptly unbalancing its rider near the 50m. In this incident ALLS GOOD (S. Parnham) was tightened for room and restrained by its rider. Apprentice A. Kennedy (HAWKEYE MORT) when questioned regarding his riding of the gelding over the concluding stages acknowledged that he had erred in failing to ride his mount out over the final three strides. Stewards were satisfied that this had not affected his finishing position but he was nonetheless strongly reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race. RACE 2: CITY OF OPPORTUNITY HANDICAP – 1800M CALICO BLUE (S. McGruddy) – Bumped at the start. Lay inwards in the straight with the rider changing his whip to his left hand approaching the 200m. LAMBTON CASTLE (L. Robertson) – Raced wide on straightening. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. REVEREND LOVEJOY (W. Pike) – Bumped at the start. Steadied off heels leaving the 700m. RACE 3: CITY OF BELMONT COUNCILLORS HANDICAP – 2200M LUSKIN DANCER (J. Valas) – Bumped and eased near the 600m. Impeded for clear running from the 400m until taken outwards near the 200m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MYTHICAL MAN (C. Chatfield) – Bumped at the 400m. Lay inwards on straightening and then shifted outwards when being corrected. PENCAZA (NZ) (J. Hill) – Bumped at the 600m. Bumped and unbalanced at the 400m. Carried outwards at the 200m. ASCOT 2.5.09 223/2 Race 3 Continued CASUAL LIFE (S. Parnham) – Had a tendency to lay outwards under pressure in the straight. BIARA ROSE (Duncan Miller) – When questioned regarding the performance rider advised that the mare had got its tongue over the bit when running. Trainer Ms S. Miller advised that she will consider a bit change for the mare for its next race start. She expressed disappointment in the performance and undertook to monitor the mare’s recovery in the ensuing days and will advise the Stewards accordingly. CURRENCY LAW (S. O’Donnell) – Bumped when under pressure at the 400m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Ms J. Busslinger advised following the disappointing performance that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. RACE 4: CITY OF BELMONT COMMUNITY PLATE – 1200M RACING MAK (S. O’Donnell) – Brushed when tiring near the 200m. Trainer Ms J. Clements advised that following the unplaced performance that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. MY EQUINE FRIEND (S. McGruddy) – Commenced awkwardly unbalancing its rider. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have returned with a laceration to the near fore heel. JEVBON (W. Pike) – Prior to the start the gelding was kicked in the near stifle by another runner and after undergoing a Veterinary examination was passed fit to start. Held up for clear running from on straightening until approaching the 200m when taken outwards and as a result brushed with another runner. CONVERTED (B. Parnham) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. LITTLE BLACK HALO (T. Ikenushi) – Commenced awkwardly. Steadied passing the 600m. Lay outwards from the 500m until on straightening. ROYAL ESCAPADE (P. King) – Got its head in the air when over-racing passing the 1000m. Impeded behind the heels of another runner near the 200m. RACE 5: CITY OF BELMONT SPRINT – 1200M ROSE OF DANTE (W. Pike) – Returned having bled from both nostrils during running. Trainer Mr G. Clarke was advised that the mare would now suffer the disabilities of ARR.53A. CACHEREL (B. Parnham) – Bumped heavily and unbalanced at the start. LACIDA (C. Harvey) – Slow into stride. LOMONDSIDE LASS (P. King) – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. VERSARC (T. Ikenushi) – Bumped shortly after the start. Lay outwards from the 600m. RACE 6: CREATING OPPORTUNITIES HANDICAP – 1200M FUN SPICE (D. Miller) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that the gelding raced in a flat manner and failed to respond when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Ms D. Riordan undertook to monitor the gelding’s recovery in the ensuing days and will advise the Stewards accordingly. RUSSELL ROAD (D. Staeck) – Commenced awkwardly. JAY JAY MASTER (S. McGruddy) – Bumped at the start. GO BUSTER (T. Ikenushi) – Raced keenly in the early stages and as a result the saddle shifted forward near the 1000m and corrected itself passing the 700m. Raced wide throughout. FUROCITEE (S. O’Donnell) – Crowded at the start. Got its head in the air when racing keenly near the 1000m. VAINTRAIN (S. Parnham) – Jumped awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middles stages. ZENTINA (B. Parnham) – Slow into stride. ASCOT 2.5.09 223/3 RACE 7: CITY OF BELMONT OPPORTUNITY CARD HANDICAP – 1400M HAPPY CHANTE (S. Parnham) – Crowded at the start. Over-raced shortly after the start and held tight near the 1300m. Continued to over-race and refused to settle despite the efforts of its rider. As a result improved onto the heels of another runner approaching the 1000m. Clipped heels, blundered and fell, dislodging its rider. A post race Veterinary examination revealed some mild soreness to the off fore leg. CORONATE (S. McGruddy) – Trainer Mr J. Price’s representative advised that the gelding returned with a laceration above the fetlock to the near side hind. SILVER DECK (C. Harvey) – Returned having bled from both nostrils during running. Trainer Mr B. Larsson was advised that the gelding would now suffer the disabilities of ARR.53.A. LA SOEUR NOIR (W. Pike) – Jumped outwards and bumped at the start. HEIGHT OF HEIGHTS (M. Forder) – Lay inwards under pressure in the straight. MORAVIA (C. Staples) – Bumped at the start, crowded shortly after and commenced to race in restricted room. Restrained getting its head in the air near the 1300m. Gear Change: LA SOEUR NOIR – Bar shoe off General: On inquiry it was established that approaching the 1300m THE SLAM (C. Chatfield) had shifted inwards when being ridden forward and carried SILVER DECK (C. Harvey) inwards. As a result MORAVIA (C. Staples) which had commenced to race keenly was crowded and restrained between SILVER DECK and HAPPY CHANTE (S. Parnham) which at the same stage had been taken outwards marginally by HEIGHT OF HEIGHTS (M. Forder). Stewards were satisfied that no individual rider was responsible in this incident but Apprentice C. Chatfield was obliged to be mindful of runners to her inside when riding to take up a forward position. On inquiry it was established that in the early stages HAPPY CHANTE (S. Parnham) had commenced to race keenly and refused to settle and despite the efforts of its rider improved onto the heels of SILVER DECK(C. Harvey) near the 1000m resulting in the gelding clipping heels, blundering and falling dislodging its rider. RACE 8: CITY OF BELMONT MAYORAL HANDICAP – 1200M ESTIARTE (Duncan Miller) – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MISSION CONTROL (B. Parnham) – Commenced awkwardly losing ground. GENERAL Routine specimens were taken from all winners. Pre-race blood samples were taken from: Race 2. MANSION HOUSE, REVEREND LOVEJOY Race 3. LUSKIN DANCER, MYTHICAL MAN, PENCAZA, BIARA ROSE, CURRENCY LAW WITHDRAWALS AFTER FINAL ACCEPTANCES Race 1. SPITFIRE ACE – Trainer’s discretion Race 2. STAR ENCOUNTER – Future engagement. Race 6. KIROV PARK – Trainer’s oversight RIDING CHANGE: Race 4. Jockey C. Harvey (Stewards approval) replaced by Jockey J. Hill on ABOUT EVEN. ASCOT 2.5.09 223/4 LATE REPORTS Ascot 4th April 4th 2009 – Race 4 Miss Andretti Sprint (1200m) Trainer Mr Ron Reid advised the Stewards that CLASSY NUGGET had undergone a scintigraphy scan at Murdoch Veterinary Hospital and the results had indicated that the gelding was suffering from lameness due to inflammation in both hind pasterns consistent with “jarring up”. Murdoch Veterinarians had recommended corrective shoeing for the gelding to alleviate this condition. Trainer Mr R. Reid confirmed that it was his intention to trial CLASSY NUGGET on Monday, 11 May 2009 at Belmont and all being well race the gelding in the Provincial area before returning to Metropolitan racing. Ascot Wednesday 29th April 2009 – Race 8 Bungler Handicap (1400m) Trainer Mr L. Luciani advised the Stewards that MAROONED AGAIN had undergone a lung wash and blood test analysis which failed to reveal any anomalies and he advised that it is his intention to now freshen the colt and undertook not to start for a period of at least three weeks. Ascot Wednesday 29th April 2009 – Race 5 Westspeed 3YO RTG 0-67 Handicap (1500m) Trainer Mr T. Andrews advised the Stewards that GRANDERAMA had returned shin sore following the race and he confirmed his early advice that it would now be sent for a spell. D.A.
