High voltage products MFM – Multi Functional Module MFM Modules 72.5 kV - 170 kV MFM is the new modularity for building substations. A range of modules fully assembled and tested in the factory and designed for easy transportation and installation. Multi Functional Modules 72.5 kV - 170 kV, 40 MVA MFM 00 and MFM 0 are the most compact and complete Multi Functional Modules available. They are an excellent solution for permanent or temporary electricity distribution or generation installations. The use of MFM modules enables a considerable reduction in installation times and requires minimal civil works. The compact dimensions allows for transportation with normal semi-trailers. The ease of loading/unloading from the semi-trailer facilitates positioning of the modules even in the small clearance areas of the high voltage line. The MFM modules may be customised by means of software and hardware applications, they may be fitted with accessories such as wheels for road transport, lifting and levelling systems, monitoring and remote control systems, etc. Multi Functional Modules 72.5/12 (17.5) kV, 40 MVA This type of module is fitted with surge arresters on the high voltage side and it is set up for connection to the electrical network by means of aluminium cables. It is also available with MV switchgear with a rated voltage of up to 24 kV, thereby forming a complete and autonomous HV/MV transformer station in a very small space. The overall dimensions are such that the modules may be transported by normal commercial vehicles and, thanks to the provision of a lifting system, the operations for the loading, unloading and positioning on site can be carried out without the need for a crane or lifting gear. Mobile Substations The lifting system allows the MFM module to be positioned on the trailer, thereby forming a mobile substation. MFM module lifted by its own jacks. Positioning of transport trailer. The SCRI module is positioned in the clearance areas of the HV line and connected in series to the line itself. The MFM module achieves the MV transformation and distribution. U p to 17 0 The modules are complete with a protection and control system. In the same way, it is possible to connect “dispersed” type generation systems (e.g. on-shore wind farms and photovoltaic systems) directly to the HV line. (*) The SCRI modules are Substations for Connection with Rapid Installation which drastically reduce the time necessary for connection to the HV network, do not require building works for installation, are very compact, transportable without escorts and offer enormous flexibility of use in the case of both emergency and permanent installations. kV smis Tran sion side U p to 24 kV ib Distr ution side 3 MFM – Multi Functional Module MFM Modules 72.5 kV - 170 kV Electrical characteristics MFM 00 and MFM 0 MFM 00 MFM 0 HV Section [kV] Rated frequency [Hz] Test voltage BIL Rated current Rated breaking capacity 72.5 145 170 50 - 60 [kV x 60 s] 140 275 325 [kV] 325 650 750 [A] up to 3150 [kA] up to 40 [kVA] up to 40000 Power transformer Rated power Rated frequency [Hz] Insulation class HV side [kV] Neutral insulation class HV side [kV] Insulation class MV side [kV] 50 - 60 LI325 AC140 LI650 AC275 LI325 AC140 LI75 AC38 (12 kV) LI125 AC50 (24 kV) Auxiliary services transformer Rated power Rated frequency [kVA] [Hz] Insulation class MV side [kV] Insulation class LV side [kV] up to 100 50 - 60 LI75 AC38 (12 kV) LI125 AC50 (24 kV) AC3,6 MV Section 12 (17.5) Rated voltage [kV] Rated frequency [Hz] 50 - 60 Insulation class [kV] 17.5 kV - LI75 AC38 24 12 kV - LI75 AC28 24 kV - LI125 AC50 Rated current Rated breaking capacity [A] [kA] For further information, contact: ABB S.p.A.
