Light-draught
despite solid strength
High area performance in both minimum cultivation and
ploughed land is a trademark of the 740A John Deere drill
through its particularly low draught requirement. This means
that even with 9 m working width it’s easily pulled with just
96 kW (130 hp).
Clean seeding slots. Reliable penetration is provided
through the acute angle and vertical setting of the
343 mm double-disc openers. The openers have offset
positioning which also slices through surface residue
and gives improved residue flow with no blocking.
The large capacity hopper holds 2300 or 3500 l for highly
efficient, non-stop drilling for maximum hectares/hour.
Optimum ground contact. The depth controlling press
wheels ensure uniform opener pressure with firm
placement of seed on the slot bottom giving good seedsoil contact for moisture supply and thus rapid and
reliable germination.
Double disc openers ensure smooth, fast and trouble-free
sowing with the 740A drill. The opener discs are especially
positioned for effective penetration even through hard
ground and high amounts of surface residue. Precise seeding
depth results in even crop emergence and optimum yields.
Huge area performance from the 740A working width of up to 9 m.
The coulter bar folds to a tidy 3 m for road transport.
Easy adjustment. The hydraulic “active” down pressure
system ensures uniform load on the seeding units.
Simply select the required pressure and the system
takes over.
The double-disc opener cuts a clean seeding slot.

Quality leads the way
Accurate seed placement. The seven degree angle of the
457 mm disc offers a clean seed slot and minimum soil
disturbance.
About the world proven drill technologies with low HP
requirements, combined with openers which ensure even
emergence optimise yields and efficiency. The single-disc
openers on the all-round John Deere 750A drill are accepted worldwide with sales of over 2 million units. They
ensure precise seed placement even when seeding directly
into the stubble.
Ideal germination conditions. The smooth sided gauge
wheel ensures precise seed placement with a semi
pneumatic press wheel for optimum seed to soil contact.
The following angled closing wheel neatly closes the seed
slot.
Thanks to robust welded-frame construction the 750A drill
proves itself again and again even under the hardest
seeding conditions. With drilling speeds of up to 15 km/h
and maximum 6 m working width, high area performance
can be taken for granted.
Uniform depth control. With undulating field surfaces
the “active” hydraulic down pressure system reliably
delivers uniform pressure of up to 250 kg per seeding
unit so that the openers follow field contours exactly.
The 750A from John Deere comes with a working width
that saves time, labour and fuel – unbeatable versatility
that pays for itself again and again.
The optimum opener pressure to match the
prevailing conditions is selected through
simple and infinitely variable controls.
The platform close to the seed hopper is
conveniently accessible by ladder.

Tip productivity scales in your favour
Time windows for field operations are getting tighter every
year. This means very high labour peaks demanding optimum
exploitation of machinery capacity and best possible implement use. At the same time, production costs have to be
continuously reduced to keep your farm business internationally competitive. John Deere offers exactly the right technology
for all of this.
Whether you’re looking for precision guidance, ISOBUS control
or clever documentation, the central elements for our productivity boosting, intelligent features are the GreenStar Common
Components: the StarFire iTC DGPS receiver and GreenStar
2600 display, which can be easily moved across all your
equipment, whether they are tractors, combines, forage
harvesters or sprayers.
The StarFire iTC receiver ensures field position accuracy of up
to ± 2 cm. You are flexible to choose the accuracy you need for
your operation. At the heart of the receiver is an integrated
Terrain Compensation module. This automatically corrects all
positional calculations based on satellite signals to adjust for
uneven ground and slopes for the highest precision standards.
Satellite-driven success
The GreenStar 2600 with 26 cm diagonal screen integrates
ultimate functionality with four performance increasing
functions clearly shown on a single monitor. And the touch
screen operation couldn’t be simpler.
Best possible use of the drill over limited working periods
demands full exploitation of working width, increased speeds
and even operating at night, too. Our satellite controlled
steering solutions reduce input cost such as time, seed and
fuel while you benefit from increased productivity and higher
operator comfort. Centimetre-precise guidance to fully
utilise the working width of John Deere 740A and 750A drills
means no overlaps and gaps by up to 90% for the highest
precision and operating speed under all conditions.
■ Precision Guidance. Easy to read in any light conditions the
GreenStar 2600 gives full control of all your guidance
activities, including choosing an “above” or “behind”
perspective view for best in field orientation.
■ Documentation. On screen mapping and colour coded
coverage maps give you a real time picture of your work.
Modern software provides you with a simple but accurate
means to collect and record data from a wide range of
applications.
For ultimate precision choose iGuide passive implement
guidance in all your seeding as well as planting and tillage
operations. Irrespective of your terrain, iGuide keeps your
implement on track. In uneven terrain the weight of your
pull-type implement will cause it to drift. The results are gaps
and overlaps that affect the quality of your work. With
iGuide, the tractor now changes its path to compensate for
implement drift in uneven terrain and slopes and guides the
implement to a perfect pass-to-pass result**.
Our complete range of guidance systems provides a solution
for every need, farm size and comfort level. Your John Deere
dealer can help you identify whether manual guidance with
Parallel Tracking or automatic steering with AutoTrac
Universal 200 or integrated AutoTrac is the right solution for
you.
■ ISOBUS Control. Designed for future needs: the industry
standard implement connector enables full control of any
John Deere or non Deere ISOBUS implement.
Want fully automated, hands free turns? Add the industry
exclusive iTEC Pro. This is the first headland management
system for tractors that also automates all sequences in the
turning operation for hands free turns at every headland.
With iTEC Pro, you’ll experience ultimate comfort teamed
with maximum coverage and minimum wastage. Independent
tests have shown savings of up to 50%* at the crossover
from the main field to the headland.
■ Performance Monitor. The performance monitor delivers
important machine information such as total and average
values and fuel usage.
Operation and control of the high performance 740A and 750A
drills can be carried out via the GreenStar 2600 Display – 4 in 1.
The innovative iGuide system keeps your
740A or 750A seed drill on track for optimum
results in curves and slopes.
* Technical University of Munich/Germany, 09/2007
** For owners of GreenStar 2600 displays, a basic implement compensation feature for simple
curve operation in even terrain is already included in the display software. No activation required.
Implement compensation does not adjust for slopes.

peace of mind of worry free ISOBUS implement control and
documentation of your seeding applications.
The ISOBUS conformed GreenStar 2600 Display lets you
control your John Deere 740A and 750A drills as well as any
non Deere ISOBUS implement. The industry standard
implement connector enables easy plug and play. And,
using a single display mounted in the tractor reduces the
amount of cab clutter you would have with non-ISOBUS
controllers. Best of all, it works seamlessly with your
John Deere machinery. This is an investment with longterm security for further development and future
compatibility.
The GreenStar 2600 display meets the ISO 11783 standard.
It is independently tested and certified as ISOBUS
conformed.
Documentation takes the guesswork out of farming.
Our FieldDoc documentation system is a planning and
reporting tool to record data about seed varities and
populations as well as tillage practices, spraying applications, field and weather conditions and more.
Team it with HarvestDoc for harvesting operations and
you gain a complete system that lets you optimise your
operation and facilitate documentation requirements.
Farmade desktop software links FieldDoc and HarvestDoc
data. It is a valuable data base for future operations. With
continuous, year round data collection and analysis you
gain solid information for sound decision making.
Plan a job on your desktop and transfer it to the GreenStar
2600 on a data card. Then record the field operation on
the display and simply transfer the field documentation
data back to your desktop for analysis and reporting. This
means less paperwork and time to focus on what really
counts.
