THURSDAY 23rd JUNE EDITION 07/2016 Greetings, Kia Ora, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Kia orana, Ni Hao, Buenos Dias, Malo ni, Namaste, Salam THIS FORTNIGHT’S QUALITY WE VALUE IS RESILIENCE – “being able to recover quickly from unpleasant or damaging events.” Dear Parents and Caregivers, We have just had another hardworking and fun few weeks here at school. Welcome to all our new families and students who have joined us over this time. The week after next is the finale to our term’s focus on celebrating our wonderful world. Last week we had our Wonderful World Food Festival and what an amazing day it was. Thank you for your support of this whether as a coordinator, helper or a provider of the goodies that everyone got to sample. Our performance nights in the final week of term will be enjoyed by everyone. They are the result of a huge amount of effort and practice by children, staff and parent helpers. Congratulations to them all. They will all deserve the holiday that is coming at the end of that week. SHOW TICKETS Just to remind you that the limitation has been lifted. You are now able to come and purchase more tickets if you need to. BOARD OF TRUSTEE ELECTIONS Thank you to all the parents/caregivers who took the time to vote in the recent elections. There were a pleasing number of voters! We are a very fortunate school having 16 high calibre nominees. We welcome the return of Board members Fiona Barker, Malua Tipi and Michael Taia, and look forward to our two new members Anna Palairet and Nigel Stevenson joining the Board of Trustees. The new Board will have their first Board meeting on Wednesday 29th June, 7pm in the staffroom. The anxious emperor penguin’s black and white body is so cute. Emperor penguins dive into the deep freezing water. Emperor penguins waddle on the ice. This emperor penguin cleans its baby. The cute emperor penguin is so clever because he has to know how to survive. Emperor penguins are social because penguins stay together. The adorable emperor penguins are so energetic because they slide on their tummies. Next time you go to the emperor penguins home, look out for the… CUTIES! Olivia Turner The Emperor Penguin The magnificent emperor penguin is as dark as a dark cave and as white as snow. The middle of them looks like lemon meringue. They look very proud and super cuddly too. The beautiful fluffy penguin cleans itself like its having a shower ,but he’s not and he waddles like a man that drank a silly poison. He dives into the ice cold water when he hears his tummy rumbling. The fluffy emperor penguin is very intelligent because he has to keep his babies off the freezing ice. Also he is very social because he’s always around other penguins. The fantastic penguin is very energetic because he is always moving around. Imagine having a penguin for a pet! The Emperor Penguin The emperor penguin looks as white as the snow and the neck looks like the bright as the sun in the sky. The emperor penguin dives into the freezing cold water while he's in, he shivers. The emperor penguin waddles quickly into the water. Once the emperor penguin gets out he cleans his feathers. The cuddly little penguin is social because he keeps his babies off the ice with his feet. I wish I could hold a fluffy cuddly penguin. Andre Settle Room 19, Year 3; Writing Pandas’ Diet Pandas are omnivores and they mostly eat plants so they don’t starve. Giant pandas eat bamboos stems and red pandas eat bamboo leaves. Joseph Whitfield Pandas’ Habitat Most pandas are found in forests and mountains in China, Nepal and India but they only live in areas where fir trees and bamboos grow. Small forests cannot give pandas all the things they need. Emma Li Pandas’ Appearance Giant pandas are black and white and they usually have black patches around their eyes. They are much bigger than their red panda cousins. Red pandas are small and red with white patches around their eyes.
