Cheerleading information Stances 1. Clean –Stand tall with legs together and arms by side- Hands should be in blades. Fingers together with palm against thigh Thumb tucked next to other fingers 2. Ready- Step right foot to the side so feet are shoulder width apart. As you do this fists go into waist (so that knuckles are touching the waist and with thumb tucked in to make a big eye. (Big eye from of the hand where themb is, little eye back of the hand where little finger is. Clap and Clasp Clap-Elbows should be tucked into sides. Palms should be together in front of chest (do not allow hands to cover face. Move hands apart and together to clap. Only move hands apart a small distance (no t much further than the width of your head) Clasp in clasp- Repeat action as above but when hands contact they should be in a clasped position to make a deeper noise. Arm positions 13 1. Low V- From clean move arms slightly in front and to the side of the body with big eye facing forward. 2. High V- Move arms above head into a high V with arms slightly forward and big eye facing forward. 3. T- Move arms out to the side at shoulder height with big eye forward. 4. Broken T. As above but arms are bent at the elbows. Arms remain horizontal. Hands by shoulders with little eye facing forwards. 5. Daggers- From the above position- move elbows into sides so that forearms are now in in a vertical position with little eye forward. 6. High daggers/high touch down- From above extend arms upwards above head with little eye forwards. 7. Low touch down/ daggers- From above arms are brought down to sides with big eye now forward. 8. Candle sticks- Arms extended forwards at shoulder height with big eye up 9. Diagonal Right. – Right arm up at a diagonal, Left arm down 10. Diagonal Left- Left arm up diagonal, Right arm down 11. Bow and arrow R- R arm in T, L in broken T. 12. Bow and arrow L-L arm in T. R arm in broken T 13. They stand with their feet wide and hands at waist of partner. Performer Body in clean . 1, Arms in high V, 2 arms cross down in front 3, As they jump arms come to T position, 4 As they land arms stay in T position. This can be performed with STRAIGHT legs or TUCKED legs. To perform a STAR the performers arms go up into a High V rather than a T when in the air and legs go apart in the air. The spotter should be ready to move incase it is a wobbly landing. Dance Use a short routine (one of the examples) and repeat in a N,S,E,W Direction Choreography. Visual effects Timing- move at different times Use the poms to make a visual effect (e.g. one behind each other in a line and make a circle with poms) Formations- Move into different positions. E.g. straight line into a V, into a W, into a number 5 dice, into an arrow head (opposite to V) Levels- arms and body at different heights.
