Perimeter word problems
1. The lengths of the sides of a triangle are represented by three consecutive even
integers. If the perimeter of the triangle is 96 feet, find the lengths of its sides.
2. Each of the equal sides of an isosceles triangle exceeds 3 times the base by 2
inches. If the perimeter is 60 inches, find the length of each side of the triangle.
3. The perimeter of a rectangular parking lot is 146 yards. Find the dimensions of
the rectangle if the length is 7yards less than 4 times the width.
4. The perimeter of a rectangular skating rink is 530 feet. If the length is 5 feet
more than 3 times the width, what are the dimensions?
5. The perimeter of a triangle is 40 inches. The second side exceeds twice the first
side by 1 inch, and the third side is 2 inches less than the second side. Find the
length of each side of the triangle.
6. The length of a rectangle is twice the width. If the length is increased by 4
inches, and the width is decreased by 1 inch, a new rectangle is formed whose
perimeter is 198 inches. Find the dimensions of the original rectangle.
