PRESS RELEASE
The Tobacco Association of Malawi (TAMA) exists with founding objectives to promote the
production and marketing of the Malawi tobacco. As such, the Tobacco Association of Malawi has
relentlessly and vigorously endeavoured to achieve this objective. It may be of interest to note
that in pursuing this objective, the Tobacco Association of Malawi has had and continues to have
no limitation to geographical boundaries such that it represents the Malawi tobacco farmers at
global fora such as the International Tobacco Growers Association (ITGA).
Of interest to note also is the fact that membership to TAMA is voluntary. But even though this is
the situation, TAMA continues to champion the good cause for all the tobacco farmers in Malawi
regardless of their membership affiliation. Further as part of its founding objectives, the Tobacco
Association of Malawi also embraced the objectives of protecting the interests of the tobacco
growers in Malawi and providing strategic and compelling services to the tobacco farmers.
INVITATION TO TOBACCO HAULAGE CONTRACT 2016 SEASON
1.0 OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The objective of the assignment is to undertake timely and safe uplifting of tobacco bales
from satellite depots and other designated centres for delivery to the Auction Floors of Limbe,
Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Chinkhoma and Mgodi as assigned by the Logistics Department of TAMA
and also in accordance with the Auction Floors offloading quotas.
2.0 DISCHARGE OF THE CONTRACT
The successful Transporters or Transporters Associations will have to sign a binding contract
that will spell out all conditions of the contract.
3.0 QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY FOR THE CONTRACT
All Transporters and Transporters Associations with road worthy vehicles and having carrying
capacities ranging from two tonnes and above are encouraged to apply. The applications must
be accompanied by:

Only documents that have gone through MALTIS registration at RTD will be accepted. Those with
secured curtained vans or netted ropes will have an added advantage.
4.0 MODE OF HAULAGE
The successful applicants will be required to undertake tobacco haulage as follows:
Transporters will be required to haul tobacco from TAMA Satellite Depots and other
designated centres like mobile depots to the Auction Floors using the booking in system
through a delivery quota given to TAMA on behalf of its members.
5.0 MODE OF APPLICATION
All applications must be done in writing and put in sealed envelopes clearly marked; “OFFER
TO HAUL TOBACCO ON CONTRACT WITH TAMA – 2016 SEASON”. The applications can be
hand delivered at TAMA Head Office or Kanengo Office in Lilongwe, TAMA Regional Offices of
Limbe, Chinkhoma and Mzuzu or posted and must be addressed to:
