The Current Situation in France:
Why Creating a Party?
❖ The Animal issue is completely ignored by existing
political parties.
➢ Giving it political visibility and highlighting that there is a reservoir
of voters.
➢ Impact on Europe
❖ Two existing parties, but the situation is not
satisfying.
➢ Aim: gaining credibility and gathering support in the movement, in
order on the long term to create a common dynamic with them.
The French Electoral System 1/2
❖ Presidential elections: Necessary to obtain 500 signatures of
elected representatives - virtually no chance for us to obtain
them.
❖ Parliamentary elections: Majoritarian two round system, with
single-member constituencies. Impossible for a single issue party
to obtain seats. It would still be possible to stand, but with 577
constituencies, harder to present serious candidates in a
significant number of them (little visibility).
The French Electoral System 2/2
❖ European Elections: The (limited) proportional system offers a
possibility to obtain seats on the long term. Many single-issue
parties stand in these elections and people tend to vote more for
them than in other elections, (no notion of “useful vote”).
❖ For these reasons, we are aiming particularly at European
elections.
The Near Future
❖ Our main goals for the near future are:
➢ Writing the statutes, with the aim to ensure democracy and
efficacy
➢ Writing the program of the future party
➢ Writing a charter to make our fundamental ethics clear
➢ Raising funds
