WEEKLY WORD - Gloria Dei Lutheran Church

May 6 & 7 | 2017 [Fourth Sunday of Easter]
This week’s “So What?” is answered through one of the most amazing
events in our lives as Christians! This week’s answer is “That Day” as the
Bible would call it. “That Day” is also known as the “Day of the Lord,” the
day on which the Lord will return and take us to be with Himself...forever!
Though the risen Christ is with us fully and wonderfully every single
day, some day we will be in His presence always and there will
“Risen Forever”
be no more separation between us and our God or between
one another for that matter There will be no more sin, no
more death, no more mourning, crying or pain. We will
be free. Truly free...forever. We will be “with the Lord
forever” as Paul says it— or as we’re saying it today,
Welcome! We are glad you are here. There is a gift waiting
for you at the Connection Center!

Stephen Ministers are ready to help
If you are experiencing a challenging time, please consider utilizing a Stephen Minister.
These trained caregivers provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care and
support to people experiencing grief, divorce, cancer, loneliness, a new baby, job loss,
disability, relocation, depression, addictions, and other life difficulties.
Our culture has taught families to care for their own, making people hesitant to
discuss any problems outside of the family. Today,
however, families or friends may not live nearby.
Problems and needs are magnified by complicated
lifestyles and pressures of everyday life. For
example, you may have recently attended the
funeral of someone close to you, but your boss and
society insist you move forward. You are likely still

times alone!
For further information, please contact Pastor Phillips at [email protected].
With your permission, he will assign you a caring Stephen Minister. All conversations
are completely confidential.

the Connection Center.
The Lord’s Supper or Communion is a Biblical event, given by Jesus for the strengthening of
our faith and the forgiveness of our sins (Matthew 26). God’s Word is very clear that when we
receive the bread and wine of the Lord’s Supper we also literally/physically receive the actual
body and blood of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 10:16 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-30). If you are a baptized
Christian who trusts in Christ’s presence, recognizes your sinfulness, and desires not only to be
forgiven of those sins, but also needs strength from Jesus to amend your daily life, then you are
welcome to join us! If you do not believe Christ is present, or are unsure of what you believe and
want further explanation, then please feel free to speak with one of our Pastors at a convenient time.
(We provide both non-alcoholic wine in the center of the tray and gluten-free wafers in containers.)
