We were going west on the Oregon Trail. In covered wagons we did ride, our only possessions stashed inside. We traveled far to stake our claim, on prairie land and steep terrain. In rain and snow, and scorching sun. The oxen pulled till day was done. 15 miles every day Wagon ho I heard them say Traveled hard from dawn to dusk Wheels are turning on prairie dust No room for toys of fancy jewels. We stored our food and cooking fuel. When wood was gone, no trees to clip, we improvised with buffalo chips. Rode in the wagon on a rainy day, walkin’ and riding’ while on our way. Our wagons loaded we did roam as we headed west to our new home 15 miles every day Wagon ho I heard them say Traveled hard from dawn to dusk Wheels are turning on prairie dust 15 miles every day Wagon ho I heard them say Traveled hard from dawn to dusk Wheels are turning on prairie dust Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh Music and Lyrics by Diana Lynn Carter © Carter House Music, LLC www.singandlearnwithdiana.com The Statue of Liberty She’s the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of the free One hundred fifty-one feet tall she stands for all to see Her torch lights up the New York sky, on this we can agree Let freedom ring for you and me, let freedom ring for you and me She stands for liberty She traveled to America, a gift to us from France Stand on the ground, look up at her you’ll feel just like an ant She represents our country, the land of the free Who is this famous woman?
