The Black Swamp Benefit, which draws upon the
traditions of the former Sunshine Bazaar & Quilt
Auction and the current MCC Relief Sales, was
created in 2001.
A group of volunteers from Sunshine and MCC
(Mennonite Central Committee) joined together to
plan a joint fundraising event for the two organizations.
The mission of the Black Swamp Benefit is to raise
funds for the local work of Sunshine Communities
and the global work of MCC, while raising awareness
for both organizations.
To date, nearly two million dollars has been raised!
Support comes from more than 40 area churches,
civic groups, quilt guilds, individual donors and
volunteers. Nearly all of the items that are sold at
the event - whether an elaborate bed quilt, a wooden
trivet, or a bag of noodles - are handmade.
Your support of Black Swamp helps people with
developmental disabilities served by Sunshine
and people in need around the world served by MCC.

Come to the Black Swamp Benefit and enjoy many food
booths. We have homemade pretzels, pulled pork sandwiches,
1/2 bbq chicken, a variety of pies and fried pies, french fries,
haystacks, strawberry shortcakes, pancakes, sausage, and
soft serve ice cream!
Available to take home are a variety of baked goods, homemade
noodles, meat and cheeses.
Shopping at Home & Garden
Our Home & Garden section has been transformed to include
many unique items, including antiques, glassware, and other
great finds! Shop for wood crafts, greeting cards, hand painted signs,
handmade comforters, plants, used books, puzzles, and more.
Auctions
The highlight of the sale is the main auction of premium quilts
and handmade wood items. Quality handcrafted quilts and wall
hangings in a wide variety of sizes and colors are donated annually
by area Mennonite churches, other supporting churches, individual
quilters, and area quilt guilds. (Auction by Frey & Sons, licensed
auctioneers, state of Ohio)
Ten Thousand Villages
Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit
program of MCC that creates vital, fair
market income for 30,000 artisans in 33
developing nations by marketing their crafts
in the United States and Canada.

Make sharing fun for kids and adults alike through My Coins
Count. Collect coins and matches in your congregation,
drop them off at the BSB and celebrate how these collections can add up to provide water for thirsty families around
the world through MCC. Collection jugs are available by

Cornhole Tournament
Get ready for the first ever Black Swamp Benefit cornhole
tournament! All ages can participate and it is $20 per team

5k Run/Walk and Children’s Race
Serious racers and casual walkers are invited to participate
in the 12th Annual Bullfrog 5K Run/Walk and the Children’s
Race! The 5K course winds its way through the fairgrounds
and down County Road J before returning to the grandstand.
The children’s race will remain inside the fairgrounds. Awards
will be given. Online registration is available at www.runsignup.com and registration forms can be found online at
