The strips of cloth below need to be cut into equal pieces of
given lengths. Draw lines on each strip of cloth to show how
many pieces will be cut.
You can use powers of ten to help you divide a decimal by a
decimal.
To divide 0.048 by 0.12, first multiply each number by the least
power of ten that makes the divisor a whole number.
1. Total Length: 9.8 yards
Piece Length: 1.4 yards

Move the decimal point 2 places to the right.
0.048 • 102 " 4.8 Move the decimal point 2 places to the right.
Students should draw 6 lines across the cloth to cut it into 7 equal pieces.
