Step 6: Measure LIN Bus Bit Rate • Adjust Horizontal Position to view the Sync Break area at the beginning of the packet • Set Horizontal Scale to 100us for clear display of the waveform • Press Cursor button and use manual cursor to measure pulse with of the Sync pulses • Check pulse width with the bit rate in the following table LIN Bit Rate LIN Sync Pulse Width 20 kbps 50 us 19.2 kbps 52.1 us 15 kbps 66.7 us 10 kbps 100 us 5 kbps 200 us 1 kbps 1 ms RIGOL TECHNOLOGIES, INC. LIN Message Frame LIN Message Frame Definitions Break Every LIN frame begins with the break, which comprises 13 dominant bits (nominal) followed by a break delimiter of one bit (nominal) recessive. Sync The sync field is the second field transmitted by the master task in the header. Sync is defined as the character x55. Identifier The ID field is the final field transmitted by the master task in the header. The LIN bus provides a total of 64(0~63) IDs. Data The data bytes field is transmitted by the slave task in the response. This field contains from one to eight bytes of payload data bytes. Checksum The checksum field is transmitted by the slave task in the response. The LIN bus defines the use of one of two checksum algorithms to calculate the value in the eightbit checksum field.
