Dear Parents/Carers
Y2 Visit to Brooklands Museum
Y2 enjoyed an exciting trip to Brooklands Museum on Tuesday to extend their learning on the history of motor racing.
The children even got the chance to go inside Concorde! We are so lucky to have this amazing resource on our
doorstep and it is wonderful to see how these ‘hands on’ experiences enrich and deepen the children’s knowledge and
understanding of the curriculum. Well done children for asking such relevant questions and showing a genuine
interest in all that Brooklands has to offer - it was a great day.
Zebra Class assembly
Today we held our first Key Stage 2 assembly led by children in Zebras Class. It is so exciting for us to see the new
curriculum unfold with the expectations for Y3 pupils. Zebras shared their learning of the Egyptians and also their new
knowledge of French. The children impressed us all with their maturity and confidence, it was a lovely assembly.
Book Fayre
Thank you very much to everyone who came along to the Scholastic Book Fayre this week. It was very well attended
and so far we raised £405. Your support of the school will enable us to get free books which will go into class libraries
to be enjoyed by the children. Thank you!
Academy Consultations
It was encouraging to see a good number of families represented at the academy information meetings this week.
The discussions that took place were robust and by all accounts generated a better understanding of what it would
mean for our school if the decision is made to join the Esher Learning Trust. We hope that you found the opportunity
to ask questions useful and that you have a better understanding of academies as a result.
School Photographs
All of the children arrived at school very smartly dressed for their school photographs on Wednesday. The reception
children also had their picture taken for the newspaper to celebrate their transition to school. Please look out for the
picture of our reception children in the paper next week. The children’s individual photos will arrive in school shortly.
Parent Forum
Next Friday 10 October at 2pm is our first Parent Forum of the academic year. This will be an opportunity for us to
discuss the impact of the primary transition. If you have any questions to ask or comments to make, please come
along and join us. It is very useful if you can let us know in advance if you are able to attend so that we can ensure
that we have the appropriate space available. Many thanks.
Have a good weekend.
Yours sincerely

generosity and support.
RECEPTION REQUEST
Should you go out walking at the weekend, Reception classes would love a collection of any autumnal items, leaves,
acorns, conkers, fir cones etc for their autumn display.
FROGS DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
There will be a class rep drop in on Tuesday 7th October from 2.30pm onwards. This is an opportunity to meet other
class reps, take a look at the role or just come along if you’re thinking about taking on the role. The following classes
still have vacancies Squirrels, Otters, Penguins, Dolphins, Whales, Zebras and Antelopes.
FROGs will be in school every morning week commencing 13th October to take orders for APFS Christmas cards and
sell tickets for the Halloween disco.
CAR PARK
May we remind you that the school’s car park is for staff only. Please do not walk through the gates when they are
opening for the cars– it is not a safe area for your children to be in. Thank you.
