PRESS RELEASE “QUASI AMICI” THE WEEKEND’S MOST SUCCESSFUL FILM Record opening: in first place in terms of tickets sold and the best average takings And for the eighth consecutive week a Medusa film is top of the list Having boomed at the box-office in France selling over 20 million tickets,, “Quasi Amici” has proved a hit also with Italian audiences with its irresistible mix of emotion and laughter. The 300 copies distributed by Medusa of the film directed jointly by Erik Toledano and Olivier Nakache, in its first weekend grossed almost one and a half million euros (€1,493,473), making it the most successful film in terms of takings per copy (€4,609) and tickets sold (226,468 compared with 187,481 for “Viaggio nell’isola misteriosa” which also had the benefit of the 3D premium). So, an exceptional result and one of the best openings ever for a French film in Italy, even outperforming the highly successful 2008 release of “Giù al nord” which began its run by grossing one million euros. Meanwhile Medusa Film continues to collect records: in fact it is the eighth consecutive week that a Medusa film has been at the top of the list of the week’s most successful films. There was also another big result for “In Time”, the surprising sci-fi directed by Andrew Niccol which, after a fiery week in which it was continuously the top grossing film, produced another outstanding result in the weekend (€797.722), bringing its total gross to €2,711,459. And there was yet another good weekend for Brizzi and “Com’è bello far l’amore” which has now grossed more that €6 million (€6,114,449), confirming its position as one of the most innovative and appreciated Italian comedies of the year.
