Agis M. Papadopoulos finished the German School of Thessaloniki. He obtained his
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University Thessaloniki in
1989, his Master of Science in Energy Conservation and the Environment from
Cranfield University (UK), in 1991, and his Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering,
specializing on solar systems, from the Aristotle University Thessaloniki in 1994.
Since 1998 he is Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the
Aristotle University Thessaloniki, Greece. His main research interests lie in the fields
of (a) Energy conservation and rational use of energy in buildings, (b) Energy
resources economics and (c) Elaboration, monitoring and evaluation of legislative
and regulatory measures to promote Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
actions.
Since 2013 he is Director of the Process Equipment Design Laboratory.
He has coordinated more than 56 national and international research projects and
authored or co-authored more than 300 papers published in peer reviewed journals
and in conference proceedings.
He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Sustainable Energy, Vice Editorin-Chief of the Advances in Building Energy Research journal and Editorial Board
Member in several other journals.
He was a Board Member of the Hellenic Regulation Authority for Energy (RAE), of the
AHEPANS General Hospital of Thessaloniki, Greece, and also a national
representative to the EU 6th and 7th Framework Programme, on Research and
Innovation and on the Ideas - Specific Programme Single Configuration.
He has worked as an expert for a series of international consulting projects, in the
fields of analyzing and implementing energy efficiency and RES policies in Greece,
Cyprus, Egypt, Vietnam and Central Asia.
He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Cyprus and is currently a Visiting
Professor at the International Hellenic University, Greece, and at the Technical
University of Hamburg-Harburg, Germany.
Since 2014 he is Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of the Open University of
Cyprus.
