Cutting Instructions:

Stitch the triangles together in
large triangle sections. Make 6.

Stitch the wedges together in sets
of three and then stitch down the
middle. Sew from the bottom up
for the tree skirt, you may leave an inch or so in
the middle as this will be cut out later.

Layer with batting and backing and quilt.

Using the Nifty Notion
circle cutting ruler or
any method of your
choice – mark a 6 inch
circle in the center.
Now choose one of the
seam lines and stitch
about 1/8 inch away
from seam line and
stitch around the drawn circle.
Main Print
 Cut 11 ½ inch strip – sub-cut flipping the ruler up
and down for 6 triangles
Solid Star Points
 Cut 11 ½ inch strip – sub-cut the same as shown
to the right for 6 triangles
Half & Half Star Points
 Cut 11 ½ inch strips of print #1 & #2
 Cut 2 11 ½ inch strips of
setting fabric
 Start with #1 and the setting
fabric RIGHT SIDES
TOGETHER and make 6 sets.
 Now use the strip of #2 and
the other strip of setting fabric
place WRONG SIDES
TOGETHER and make 6
sets.
 One set will have the
setting fabric to the right
and the other set will be
reversed with setting
fabric to the left.
Sewing
 Sew together all of the half & half
units and press to the dark side.
Cut up the seam line and around the circle with a
scissors, using a rotary cutter is risky at best and
one slip might ruin all of your work!
Bind first around the circle – bias is recommended
but not mandatory. Make sure you leave 12 inches
or so on each end of the center opening for ties.
Bind the octagon and then topstitch the ties and tie
knots on the ends of the ties. Press and ENJOY!
