It talks about gods, angels, creatures, weapons, wars and flying machines. Earlier everyone thought they were just stories of ancient lunatic minds and they were never considered to be valuable. But recently after the development of modern technology people have started showing some interest towards these stories. There are many questions raised regarding these ancient records because they are incredibly reassembling modern technological equipment. As an example, Mahabharata says that there have been real and highly dangerous wars using nuclear weapons. These records on nuclear weapons are highly accurate and they talk more about different sorts of weapons. Most of them are insanely similar to modern weapons. Also Ramayana which has stolen many analytical eyes and brains over the planet, talks about a flying machine king ‘Ravana’ has used. All of those stories made weapon experts, aviation experts and archaeologists tired of analysing and assuming. Yet few pieces of evidence changed the whole course. A Sanskrit manuscript known as ‘Vimanika Shastra’ explains everything about flying machines that ancient India had. Although it doesn’t use a controversial story to tell about flying machines it uses mind blowing, detailed designs of several types of flying machines. These machines were called Vimanas and there were five types of them. Rukma, Shakuna, Tripura, Pushpaka and Sundara were the names of these types. They had used rocket-powered engines, solar powered and mercury engines .These Mercury Vortex engines had generated anti -gravitation powers to lift the Vimanas up. Usually, they were used as war machines, which is an obvious fact. Once you get a good toy you use it to protect yourself. This is the nature of the mankind. There is another Indian mythical story about a man who built a plane out of wood. In Buddha’s time, a prince hired a person to build himself a nice castle and while the construction work was going on he planned to murder the builder. So that he would not build a better one for another person. Knowing the plan from a co-worker, this builder deceived the prince saying that he needed some lightweight wood to finish construction. He said that the final work should be done secretly so others wouldn’t see it. Also, he asked permission to get help from his family. Once granted he built a wooden glider and flew to another state with his family. In Gulliver’s travels, Gulliver discovered a floating island that used a magnetic technology to levitate in the air. The land was called ‘Laputa’ and filled with theoretically smart people who actually were Myth and the truth | Kaveen Jayasooriya | www.alphadeltaedu.com Page 2 sensibly stupid. The reason is that the men were addicted to maths and astronomy while their wives committed adultery. What makes them even more stupid is the fact that all the men didn’t even know this. So sometimes, flying high is not the only best thing. Moving on to a truth, Atlantis which is a lost nation used to build two types of lying machines. These were called vrils and vailixis. Vrils were said to be saucer shaped flying machines while vailixis were cigar shaped machines. These were more advanced than Vimanas. They always had fights with Indians and they were usually the better ones. So it is evident that little kids used to play with toys just like they do nowadays, shooting each other in faces. A long time ago, from the region of Saqqara of Egypt, archaeologists discovered a wooden model of a bird. It was kept in a museum and was unnoticed for a long time. Later on, it was discovered that this bird was a replica of a glider that ancient Egyptians used and was launched by a catapult. Again from Egypt there were carvings which look similar to modern helicopters and aeroplanes. So it is evident that Egypt also used to play with flying toys just like most of the ancient civilizations. It is evident that aviation was global and different civilizations had used it in different scales just like nowadays. But it leaves us so many questions. How did they get this technology? How did they know about aerodynamics? Did they discover it on their own or did someone from another world give it to them? Although records say many things it is obvious that the history that our ancestors left behind is enormous. But one thing is more evident. Just like a father and a mother protect their child from dangerous toys by hiding them, our ancestors hid and buried most of their toys so they would not harm the future.
