Did you know that at the Front Desk is
something we call the “Book of Fabulous?”
This is your chance to write about good things
that happen at our centre. Sometimes we are
just so eager to complain
about what is wrong with
things in our world... maybe we all could take some
time out to celebrate what
is good and wonderful,
lets start with what is wonderful here at
SEESA—please feel free to contribute.
Our AGM is scheduled for Wednesday
March 8 at 2pm in the gym—a reminder that
regular classes and clubs will not take place at
this time. After the meeting we gather in
Tillie’s Café for wine and cheese. It is at the
AGM when we present the Honourary Lifetime
Members awards.
Several of our dedicated board members will be leaving the board. Thank you so
much for your dedication and good works.
SEESA cannot operate without you.
March 31 is “Clean Up SEESA” day—
we have not held this event for a couple of
years and storage rooms are starting to pile up
with “stuff!” - with our already limited storage
space we need to do this at least every couple
of years. Activity Liaisons from all clubs will
be needed. Please see the ad in this newsletter and watch your club/class folder for further
information.
I just had a chance to join the “Fun
Choir” class for about 1/2 an hour—was it fun?
Well yes it was! FUN! I left feeling happy and
maybe even joyful. It is amazing how singing
can lift your spirits. Thank you Anne and the
rest of class for putting up with this voice. I
had a wonderful time.
* A one time set up fee of $30.00 may apply if
your ad is not camera ready.
Note: paid advertisements may
not reflect the views of SEESA.
Buyer discretion is advised.
You have to embrace getting older. Life is precious, and when you have lost a lot of people
you realize each day is a gift.

Theatre: Scona Theatre Co. presents
"Bring It On". The high stakes world of
competitive high school cheerleading! The
Musical, inspired by the movie of the same
name, tells the story of Campbell, cheer
captain and most popular girl at Truman
High School. School redistricting forces
Campbell to transfer to Jackson High
School. Knocked off her throne as teen
queen, Campbell tries to make sense of her
new “outsider” status. With a national title
on the line, Campbell must convince
Danielle, Jackson’s “it-girl” and leader of hip
-hop dance troupe The Crew, to start a
cheerleading squad and help bring on some
sweet revenge.
Walking: Very little walking as the bus will
drop us off and pick us up at both venues.
Sign up quickly as the theatre has held 14

Come out this Spring
and try
Urban Poling
at SEESA!
This outdoor walking
club uses “poles” to
support and benefit your workout. The objective of the poles is not only to support you as
you walk but also to help with your posture
and core and arm strengthening. Poles will be
available for rental if you don’t have your
own.
This is a great activity to bring your dogs
along for them to get some outdoor activity in
as well, but only when we are outdoors. You
will need to have them on a tether where
your hands can be free. If you are interested
in exploring the neighborhood while learning
some healthy walking techniques this class is
for you!

OUTREACH NEWS
Some things to think about regarding your
personal safety:
1. Do you live alone?
2. Have you considered having a Lifeline or
similar emergency calling device? These
allow you to call for help when you can’t get
to your telephone. There may be financial
assistance if you have a low income.
3. If you have an emergency, can someone
get into your home? Who has a key? Is that
person available during the day? If no-one
has easy access to your home,
you may consider getting a lock
box for a spare key that is kept
outside of your home. Any
emergency contacts would just
need the combination. This is a
great idea for those of us who
have misplaced or lost our house
keys, too!
Dates to remember:
Social Circle: every Thursday from 11 am to
noon in the library and noon to 1 pm in the
cafeteria.
Care Circle: every Monday from 1 to 2:30
pm, except for statutory holidays.
Ins, Outs & Allies: regular meetings on hold.
Please contact Leslie Amundson regarding
when the group will resume.
Ins, Outs & Allies Games Night: has
become a monthly event—on the third
Wednesday of each month from 7 pm to 9
pm. Sign up in advance is required. Drop in
fee of $2.00. Upcoming dates: March 15,
April 19 and May 17.
For information or if you have ideas, come in
and talk to Leslie Amundson, Outreach
Coordinator. Outreach services include
helping with forms, checking to see if you are
receiving the money you are eligible for,
referrals, advocacy, home visits, friendly
visiting, drop-in group programs and much
more!
Spring is just around the corner and with it comes SEESA’s Spring Program Guide which will be
out the week of February 21st. We have a few classes that we are bringing back such as Urban
Poling where we use Poles designed to benefit your walk. It’s a great time of year to get outside
and enjoy the fresh air while giving this healthy activity a try. Poles can be rented at an extra
charge. We will try another beginner class of Fiddle and a return class of learning the Ukulele so
if you ever wanted to learn to play now would be the time. A Creative Writing Course is also
scheduled with Rusti Lehay coming back to offer friendly support and constructive feedback on
your works. These are just a few of the returning classes we will be offering. this spring.
Registration Day is Saturday, March 11 beginning at 9:15 am. We will set you up in the Cafeteria
to fill out your Program Registration form. When your number is called you will be brought into
the registration room and your number will be called in order. This saves standing in long line
ups and makes the day to run smoothly.
I am going to try to attend as many classes and join in as many clubs as I can over the next 6
months to a year and speak about them in my articles. One of the first ones I tried was Ballet
Barre. This class surprised me as I thought I would be learning some ballet steps and applying
them to dancing but that’s not at all what this class is about. Our instructor takes you through a
stretching and strengthening routine that a ballerina might do before actually dancing . It creates balance, toning, lengthening of muscles and movement as well as working up a good
sweat. In the 6 weeks I’ve been in this course I have gained strength, balance, muscle toning ,
and, it’s helping with a hip flexor problem I was having. This class has been renamed to Barre
Fitness which explains it a bit better. If you’re looking for a non-cardio activity in the evening I
suggest giving this one a try.
A reminder to our Club Liaisons, Community Contributor groups and our Class Instructors—if you
are making any purchases for your group activities, you must submit a Request For Purchases
form prior to any expenditures for approval. When making your purchase only buy SEESA items
on that receipt. Do not purchase personal items on the same receipt. This will help our accounting processes. Thank you.
If you have any ideas of classes you are interested in but we don’t offer them please let me
know.
Enjoy your Spring Session at SEESA!

Today is Valentine’s Day. Our Cafeteria
looks fabulous all decked out in red. It’s
wonderful to be a part of the staff at SEESA
- our leader, Kim, goes into the cafeteria at
lunch and instead of sitting down to mingle
she puts on an apron and clears tables
while she mingles! So proud to be part of
this team. - Peggy
