Our High 5 Netball Team End The
Season With A Resounding Win
Congratulations to the school netball
team, who finished the season with a
victory against Beechwood (Red) last
night; in their final league fixture. Having taken a 4-1
lead in the first quarter, the team drew each of the
remaining quarters 1-1, to win the match 7- 4.
The Runcorn schools' High 5 Netball League consisted
of 7 teams this year, and having won five of their
matches this season (including all 4 of their last 4
matches), Halton Lodge Primary School finished THIRD
overall. This is a great achievement that we are
extremely proud of.
Everybody who has watched the team play each week
has commented on how much the players have
progressed since the league started - and it is hoped
many of the players (especially the children in Year 6)
will now join the local netball team so they can
continue to play outside of school.
Thank you and 'Well Done' to everybody who has
represented the school this academic year. You can be
extremely proud of what you have learnt and
achieved. We are hoping to relaunch the Netball Club
after Half Term - when we will be trying to get a lot
more of our Year 5 and Year 4 children involved and
playing!

Year 5 Sandwich Making Session with
Warburtons
Unfortunately the lady who was due to lead the
Sandwich Making Workshop with Year 5 this week was
taken ill - and the session had to be cancelled.
This has now been rescheduled
- and the children will be able
to look forward to taking part in
this food education workshop
just after Half Term.

O2/NSPCC Workshop - 'Let's
Keep Kids Safe Online'
presented by Kristy Messham
Thank you to those parents who
attended the workshop on
Thursday. I am sure they would agree that it was a
useful and informative session, which gave them
strategies to protect children when they are using the
internet, online games, apps, YouTube and messaging
services.
For those parents who were unable to attend we are
able to share the following advice from the NSPCC to
help you.
Explore - FInd out what your children do online. You
can then check the suitability of specific Apps /
programmes on 'Netware'.
Talk - Have regular conversations with your child
about using the internet safely. Visit the 'Shareaware'
programme to help you.
Agree - Agree family boundaries in the home and with
wider family members.
Manage - Manage the technology devices used by
your children, using Parental Controls. Advice can be
found on the websites below.
Be a good role model online! O2 stores offer advice on
this - and you do not need to have an O2 device to
access it!!

The competition theme is ‘What does the Christmas
season mean to you?’ so you need to design an image
that best describes what the festive period means to
you.
We are hoping the official competition entry forms will
arrive in school next week so you will be able to
transfer your final design on to the entry form - and
get your entry sent off - in good time.
Children can help WWF to spread the word about

Halton Lodge School Holidays 2016/17
The story can be funny, sad, adventurous - WWF don't
mind, so long as it is a tiger-tastic tale!
Summer Term *
The Prize! The winner will receive a personalised
"Tiger Protector" story book, plus a £500 book
voucher for their school. Three runners up will win
tiger-themed goody bags.
One of the judges is award-winning children's writer
Jeanne Willis (author of the "Tiger Protector" story).
She has some top tips for budding writers:
"A
good story has a brilliant beginning, a
marvellous middle and an amazing end. The
beginning is where you set the scene and
introduce your main characters. The middle is
where the characters try and solve a problem.
The end ties up everything neatly. There
should always be a surprise!"
