Development Director Job Summary: The Judaism Your Way (JYW) Development Director will work with the Executive Director to execute the Mitzvah Your Way combined $7.87M Endowment and Annual Campaign. In conjunction with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and contract fundraising consultants, the Development Director will identify and cultivate donors, and implement targeted solicitation strategies designed to increase JYW’s donor database and close gifts. Additionally, the Development Director will manage development records, systems, and administrative procedures related to JYW’s overall fundraising goals. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director. Essential Functions: 1. Engage with the Executive Director to implement a comprehensive strategic development plan for JYW. A. Plan, organize, and manage the Mitzvah Your Way Campaign in partnership with the Executive Director. B. Coordinate a strategic fundraising plan that includes individual, corporate, foundation, and grant targets. C. Draft fundraising materials, coordinate mailings, and online campaigns. D. Track grant reporting requirements. 2. Direct efforts to engage and steward donors. A. Develop strong relationships with Executive Director, board members, staff, Foundation Directors/staff, community influencers and leaders critical to JYW’s fundraising success. B. Plan and supervise donor cultivation events, experiences, and literature. C. Manage and coordinate all fundraising mailings, including creation of letters and materials in partnership with the Executive Director and Marketing/Communications Manager. D. Cultivate donors through regular face-to-face solicitations and other communications. E. Develop effective thank you letters, annual appeals and other solicitation materials. F. Work with Marketing/Communications Manager to ensure that development information on the website is up to date and accurate. 3. Create JYW policies to maintain strong system of record keeping and recording campaign prospects, pledges, and gifts. A. Develop appropriate policies to achieve excellence in recording, reporting and communicating fundraising goals to Executive Director and Board. 1 B. Oversee the administrative support for development including ensuring that donor acknowledgements are completed in a timely manner and that appropriate records, prospect lists, and mailing lists are maintained. C. Manage current donor management system, Giftworks, to its full capability including analysis and reports. D. Track and report fundraising results to Executive Director and Board. E. Demonstrate confidentiality in handling the organization’s financial and client information. 4. Work with Executive Director and fundraising consultant to ensure successful fundraising and donor appreciation events. A. Work closely with events committee, contractors, venues, and staff to ensure events raise money and effectively cultivate donors. B. Track and report event registration and funds to Executive Director. C. Work with Marketing/Communications Manager to coordinate promotions materials for the event. D. Recruit, schedule, and train volunteers for fundraising events. E. Implement systems to track, record, and respond to all event donations, event sponsors, and track sponsorship agreements and payments. Minimum Qualifications: Two years of development experience with one-on-one and event fundraising, ideally in a nonprofit setting 2 Experience with donor database management, preferably Giftworks Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word (including mail merge), and Excel Event planning experience a plus Willingness to work as part of a fast-paced and dynamic team and enthusiastically promote agency mission in all activities Ability to maintain regular office hours as well as help to staff our signature events of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and 8th Night of Passover. Physical Requirements: Valid driver’s license, able to drive a car and provide own transportation to various programs, events, and meetings Salary and Benefits: This is a full time, 40 hour/week position. Salary commensurate with experience. Agency pays 100% medical, dental, short term disability and long term disability insurance.
