2) How many samples does the reference waveform support?
When running, the reference waveform supports 50k. (Back to top)
3) Is there a way to save the waveform data sequentially to an external storage while in roll mode?
Currently no. Please contact your local Agilent representative or distributor if this is a feature you would like
to see added.
4) What is the Waveform Update rate for the 2000 and 3000 X-Series oscilloscopes? (Back to top)
The maximum waveform update rate for the 2000 X-Series is greater than 50, 000 waveforms per second
(wfms/s)
The maximum waveform update rate for the 3000 X-Series is greater than 1 million waveforms per second
(1,000,000 wfms/s)
5) Does the 2000 and 3000 X-Series have LXI compliance?
Yes, with the optional DSOXLAN module (Back to top)
6) How many active probes do the 2000 and 3000 X-Series oscilloscopes support?
Up to two active probes can be supported at one time on the 3000X-Series. The 2000 X-series does not offer
an autoprobe interface to support active probes without an external power supply. (Back to top)
7) When AC coupling is enabled how much signal DC can the oscilloscope handle?
With the AC coupling enabled, the input can handle 400Vpk. If the signal is purely DC, then it can handle
400VDC. If there is an AC signal riding on the DC voltage, then the 400Vpk limit (DC + pk AC) should be
observed.
8) Is there a plan to support 1mV/div?
Yes it is part of the 1.20 firmware version. (Back to top)
9) What is the 1Mohm input capacitance on the analog channels for the 2000X/3000X-Series oscilloscopes?
2000 series 11pf.
3000 series 15pf. (Back to top)

FAQ’s
10) What is the sample rate of the Logic channels with MSO2000X and MSO3000X?
The sample rate is 1GS/s on all channels. (Back to top)
11) Do you support Serial bus decoding on the 2 channel models of the 3000 X-Series?
Yes, we support serial decoding on 2ch models with the 3000X-Series. (Back to top)
12) How many segments can I capture with the Segmented Memory application?
2000 segments with MSO7000B in single acquisition and half channel mode,
25 segments for 2000 X-Series,
1000 segments for the deep memory option (DSOX3MEMUP) in the 3000X-Series.
500 segments for the standard memory option in the 3000X-Series.
13) Is the ALB data format in the 2000 and 3000 X-Series the same as 5000/6000/7000 supporting offline software?
Yes. (Back to top)
14) How do I sanitize?
The procedure for sanitizing is listed in the InfiniiVision 2000 and 3000X-Series starts on page 3 of the
declassification document: http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/5990-8184EN.pdf
(Back to top)
15) How do I perform license key and firmware upgrades?
If able to connect remotely to instrument in secure environment, then you can perform this function remotely
over LAN via web browser interface or USB cable from PC to scope using Agilent I/O libraries to remotely
connect and upgrade the firmware or install license keys.
If not able to remotely connect, sanitize the instrument, remove from the secure environment, perform the
license key upgrade, return instrument to secure environment. (Back to top)
16) What are my options for saving data?
There are 2 USB ports, an optional LAN or GPIB module to save data remotely or use USB stick.
With the optional DSOXLAN option (10/100 BaseT), the oscilloscope is fully programmable. It can be used
for control and data acquisition (screen shots and x-y pairs) and measurements and it makes the oscilloscope
LXI complaint, which means it can serve up a webpage that can save screen shots and x-y pairs directly to
the PC HDD. It can also be used to control the oscilloscope from this webpage
With the DSOXGPIB option, the oscilloscope is fully programmable. It can be used for control and data
acquisition (screen shots and x-y pairs) and measurements.

17) How do I save all acquired data to a USB stick?
1. Capture all your data on screen.
2. Insert USB stick into USB port.
3. Press the [Save/Recall] key.
4. In the Save/Recall Menu, press Save.
5. In the Save Trace and Setup Menu, press Format, then, turn the Entry knob to select the type of file you
want to save (BMP, .CSV etc)
6. Finally, press the Press to Save softkey. A message indicating whether the save was successful is
displayed.
You can also configure the [Quick Action] key to save setups, screen images,
or data. The [Quick Action] key lets you perform common, repetitive actions by pressing a single key.
To configure the [Quick Action] key:
1. Press [Utility] > Quick Action > Action; then, select the action that should be performed (Quick
print, quick save, recall, display all measurements and more) see the users guide page 270:
http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/75019-97013.pdf
For example • Quick Save — saves the current image, waveform data, or setup.
Press Settings to set up the save options.
2. Once the [Quick Action] key is configured, you simply press it to perform
the selected action.
18) Can I turn off sinx/x?
No, sinx/x cannot be turned off. (Back to top)
19) Can I turn off connect the dots/vectors?
No, dots/vectors cannot be turned off.
20) Is there an equivalent time mode?
No, there is not an equivalent time mode. The oscilloscope samples more than enough for the specified front
end bandwidths. (Back to top)
21) Do both 2000X and 3000X have X-Y and roll modes?
Yes, both oscilloscopes have X-Y and Roll modes. (Back to top)
22) Can I use all of the display to view the waveform?
No, you cannot use all of the display to view the waveforms. Because we do our plotting in the MegaZoom
IV ASIC, it requires us to have a fixed display size for the waveform graticule – this is one of the features that
allows us to offer an industry leading update rate. (Back to top)

FAQ’s
9
Note: Only one module may be used at a time. (Either LAN/VGA module or the GPIB module) (Back to top)
36) Do Tektronix probes work with these scopes?
Yes, there are two different ways that they work. Most Tektronix passive probes work as is as long as they
meet the input impedance requirements of the scope. In addition with the Agilent T2A adaptor (N2744A),
most of Tektronix active probes with the TekProbe interface will work with the 3000X-Series. (Back to top)
37) Is there a bandwidth upgrade for the 2000X/3000X-Series oscilloscopes?
Yes, please reference the following document on the Agilent website:
http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/5990-7759EN.pdf or the datasheet at

41) Where are the hard copy manuals for different languages?
The hardcopy options are available at the time of order. They are under N6458A-OC-ADLDOC and N6459A-OCADLDOC. They are available in local language. (Back to top)
42) Can the 2000X be upgraded to a 3000X?
No, the only two things not upgradeable on these scopes are the number of analog channels and moving
between the two families. Within the 2000 X-Series and the 3000X-Series, you can upgrade bandwidth, MSO
channels, memory depth and all measurement applications. (Back to top)
43) How do I redeem licenses?
The process is outlined in the 2000X-Series datasheet: http://cp.literature.agilent.com/litweb/pdf/59906618EN.pdf
