What are assisted reproductive
technologies (ART)?
Many times, individuals cannot become
pregnant without specialized medical care.
As the name implies, ART procedures are
those that employ advanced technologies
to help those individuals become pregnant.
The methods used to achieve pregnancy
by artificial or partially artificial means
are collectively known as Assisted
Reproductive Technologies (ART).
What is third-party reproduction?
Third-party reproduction refers to a process
where another person provides sperm
and/or eggs, or embryos, or where another
woman provides her uterus so that the
intended parent can have a child. The
third party’s involvement is limited to the
reproductive process and does not extend
to raising of the child.
What is surrogacy?
A surrogate is a woman who carries a
baby through the pregnancy for another
person. Gestational surrogacy involves the
use of IVF where the embryo is implanted
by embryo transfer. Traditional surrogacy
involves the artificial insemination of the
surrogate, usually utilizing the intended
father’s sperm.

We’ve never felt so content
and blessed. Can we use a sperm donor and/or an egg
donor in a gestational surrogacy?
Yes. In many cases, the sperm and egg of the
intended parents are utilized; however, in some
cases either a sperm donor or an egg donor, or
sometimes both are utilized. Other cases will
utilize donated embryos.
Can we use our own surrogate and still
work with you?
Yes. ART Parenting will prepare the legal
agreements, and can also manage expense
accounts and assist the parties through the
process, including taking care of the necessary
paperwork or court order for the birth
certificate before or after birth.
Can we use our own egg donor?
Yes. You will still need to have an egg donor
agreement prepared. In that case, your donor
will be screened medically by your IVF center.
How long does it take to be matched with
a surrogate?
You can be matched immediately, or it may
take a few months. This will entirely depend
upon what is important to you in a match.
