This has been a challenging summer
for the company, particularly as
a result of the fire in the process
plant on June 23, but I am pleased
to announce that the repairs have
proceeded well, and we anticipate
that processing in the plant can
resume by the end of September.

Jay Project Update
Board Approval for Jay Project
Next Steps
At the beginning of July 2016,
Dominion Diamond’s Board of
Directors approved the development
of the Jay Project based on the
positive results of the feasibility
study and the revised project
schedule and life-of-mine plan.
There is still work to be done to
complete the permitting for the
project. Dominion has filed updated
water licence and land use permit
applications, which is the next step
in the environmental approval of the
project.
The feasibility study confirmed the
economic and technical viability
of the Jay Project. Dominion is
confident in the outlook for the
diamond market and believes the
mine life extension provided by Jay
positions us well for the future.
Please refer to the
list of activities on
page 5 for meetings
and workshops
related to the
permitting process
for the Jay Project.

Community Caribou Engagement Program Report
Dominion Diamond is pleased to
announce that the most recent Ekati
Community Caribou Engagement
Report for 2014-2015 is complete,
and is available in the following
languages:
• Dënesųłıne
• Tłı̨chǫ / Wiiliideh
• Inuinnaqtun
• English
The report will be available at this
link (ddcorp.ca/responsibility), and
printed copies will be sent to the
communities shortly. Keep an eye out
for the reports!
In the meantime, here is a sneak peak
into what you will find in the report:
Caribou at the Ekati mine, August 2016.
Dominion is committed to ensuring
that Traditional Knowledge (TK) is
given full consideration along with
scientific knowledge pertaining to
environmental monitoring programs
and management plans.
To acknowledge and address local
community questions about caribou
while they are on or migrating
through the Ekati mine site, the
company invites local TK holders
to engage with the Environment
Department on site-based caribou
monitoring programs.
This has provided a valuable
opportunity for participants to
share their local knowledge, hold
discussions around caribou, and
recommend how TK can be aligned
with scientific monitoring of caribou.

Ekati mine, June 2016.
Caribou Crossings at the Ekati Mine
Dominion Diamond takes a number
of measures to make sure caribou
can pass safely and freely through
the Ekati mine.
Dominion has gathered the
recommendations of community
members and has installed caribou
crossings on the Ekati haul roads.
During the Community Caribou
Engagement Program, community
participants viewed the existing
caribou crossings on the Misery and
Lynx roads, and discussed what
improvements could be made to the
proposed Sable and Jay haul roads.
Based on the comments from the
communities, Dominion has taken
action by:
• Using smaller rocks in the
caribou crossings, as larger rocks
are more difficult for caribou to
walk on safely.
• Putting in crossings while the
road is being built instead of
waiting until after it is in place.
• Ensuring the road is smooth
and as close to the level of the
tundra as possible.
• Installing caribou crossings along
the road at locations identified
by Elders and other community
members.
• Installing crossings where a lake
ends at a road, as caribou follow
the lakes.
