Every city department had unique needs – especially emergency
services. DataTel needed to work within the existing IT environment
to create a virtualized (software) solution. But first came the
finances of the possible deal, the governmental procurement
requirements, and every special need. Frankly, it is only pure
collaboration that makes major deployments go well and within the
City of Caldwell, those good men are director of IT Jose Menchaca
(who is photo shy) and Brent Orton, The Director of Public Works.
Jose made every benchmark clear and was not shy about pointing
out the challenges – no surprises. Brent, who is a magnificent
human and the most positive of men, kept the energy high the
governmental hoops aligned. The end result is an outstanding
upgrade (and a lower overall cost) for the almost 50,000 citizens (or

“customers”, as Brent would say) of the City of Caldwell. “The
Positivity Always
support has been fantastic”,
says Mr. Orton. David (Philbrook – the program sale
manager) approaches things as a problem solver and
that is extremely helpful.” The new phone system has
a number of features that the City quickly leveraged
“Dynamic Extension”, where the conversation can be
pushed to or from a cell-phone. This is a great feature
especially when the snow was piling up and the Public
Works Department became a quasi-24/7 operation. One
button call-record captured detailed information and the City
Brent, Tanya and the brood!
Council now enjoys a high-end conferencing unit with video
capacity for all meetings. We are so grateful. Thank you!
