Year 9 - The History of the Modern Era

Year 9 - The History
of the Modern Era
Extra Hot – Future Generations
The Year is 2115. Year 9 pupils are in their
History lesson. What 3 key events post
1945 do you think they will be learning
about? You need to explain what the
event is and why they are learning about it.
You can complete the task in a format of
your choice e.g. written report,
storyboard, or spider diagram. It must be
neatly presented.
Hot – Who is most
significant from the 20th
Century?
Marie Curie, Margaret Thatcher, Princess
Diana, Henry Ford, Gandhi, Emeline
Pankhurst, Wright Brothers, Martin
Luther King.
From the list of people order them from
Most Significant to Least Significant. You
then need to explain why you have put
them in that order.
Mild – Events into Chronological Order
Put these events into chronological order. Give a brief overview
of each event. Present your work in a neat an interesting way.
Apollo Moon Landing – July 20th 1969
Berlin Wall coming down – November 9th 1989
First Test-Tube baby born – 25th July 1978
Montgomery Bus Boycott – Dec 5th 1955

Extra Mild – The British Musem
You can add three objects that were invented between 1945 and
1999 that have revolutionized our way of life. What three object
would you choose?
You need a picture of your object, a description of your object
and why it has revolutionized our way of life.
(Hint – revolutionized means change (something) radically or
fundamentally.)
