Flag Day is
June 14th
The American flag, also nicknamed as
“Old Glory” or “star-spangled banner”,
has changed designs over the centuries. It
consists of 13 equal horizontal stripes of
red (top and bottom) alternating with
white, with a blue rectangle in the canton
bearing 50 small, white, five-pointed
stars. Each of the 50 stars represents one
of the 50 states in the United States and
the 13 stripes represent the original 13
colonies that became the first states in the
Union.
We will be making Berry Flag Dessert in
Edible Creations June 14th at 1:00p.m.

The Rock Church of Sahuarita
The kids from The Rock Church in Sahuarita will be here Sunday June 12th, 2016 at 10:15a.m.
The kids will be coming to visit and do some arts & crafts with any residents who would like to
participate. Some of you may remember the kids as they have been here before visiting and doing
arts & crafts with everyone. Mark your calendars for June 12th in the Azalea Dining Room.
Ballet Folklorico La Paloma Visits
The History of Folklorico
Baile folklorico, literally “folkloric dance” in Spanish, is a collective
term for traditional Latin American dances that emphasize local folk
culture with ballet characteristics- pointed toes, exaggerated
movements, highly choreographed arrangements.
Come to the Azalea Dining Room Sunday June 12th at 2:00p.m. to
enjoy dancing from Ballet Folklorico La Paloma. See you there!
Summer Solstice is June 20th
June 20th is the official start of summer.
It is the longest day of the year, and sets
the tone for longer days all summer.
Dietary will be serving a “summer”
themed lunch and activities will supply
Eegee’s frozen Icee for everyone to enjoy
at 2:30p.m.
National Rocky Road Ice Cream Day
June 2nd is National Rocky Road Day.
While this iconic ice cream flavor is generally
associated with feelings of happiness and pleasure,
its inception was the result of some pretty dire times.
Recognizing the “rocky road” ahead for Americans
after the Stock Market Crash of 1929, ice cream
purveyor William Dreyer dreamed up this recipe
as a temporary salve to the economic ills in
The United States.
With the summer heat upon us, come to the Azalea
Dining Room at 3:15p.m. for a National Rocky Road Ice Cream Day Social.
We will have toppings available for you to dress your ice cream up.
