“A Journey through Heritage Villages and National Park” People to People Program. Discover the cultural heritage sites of Humanity declared by UNESCO in the Eastern Region of Cuba. Visit the Historic Center of Camaguey founded in 1515 as a villa called Santa Maria del Puerto del Príncipe. It was the sixth Villa founded during the Spanish colonization. Visit Holguin, the place where Christopher Columbus landed in Cuba in 1492. Explore Humboldt National Park, one of the most important sites in the Western Hemisphere for its endemic flora and one of the most biologically diverse tropical island sites on Earth. Travel to Baracoa, the first villa founded on the island by Diego Velazquez in 1511. Learn about the Cubans trying to create new private businesses and how the current dual currency works. Day 2. Camaguey City Tour. The Historic Urban Center of Camagüey has exceptional heritage values that made it worthy to be included in UNESCO's World Heritage List. As one of the first seven towns founded by the Spanish in Cuba in 1528, Camagüey plays a prominent role as urban center of the interior territory dedicated to the cattle breeding and the sugar industry. The town was developed on the basis of an irregular urban model containing a system of squares, alleys and winding streets very rare, common among Latin American villas located on flat lands. All the houses around the square maintain the original colonial style. One of the greatest attraction is the sculptural set of the artist Martha Jiménez, it recreates the life and customs of the locals in original size. • After breakfast you will go on a City Tour. • Then you will visit the birth house and Museum of Ignacio Agramonte. • • • • • Lunch at a private restaurant in Camaguey. After lunch transfer to Holguin. When you arrive to the hotel, a representative of Vemares will welcome you. Hotel check in and dinner. Night – Live music and Artistic Show at the hotel Day 3. Get to know where Christopher Columbus landed in Cuba for the first time. • After breakfast, tour pick up at the lobby. • Visit to Cayo Bariay Natural Park in American Classic Cars. • Transfer to Santa Lucia to take a 19th century steam locomotive, towards Cayo Bariay, where Christopher Columbus first landed in Cuba. • Visit the ranger's house where you can drink coffee and coconut water. Here you can do horseback riding. • Visit to the monument that represent the encounter of two cultures. Visit to the replica of a Taina Village with a Mini Show. • After the tour, return to the hotel. • Night – Live music and Artistic Show at the hotel Day 4. Crucero del Sol Tour. (Group Tour) • Departure by bus to the International Marina and board a catamaran. Enjoy an open bar. Sail along the coastal and stop at Naranjo Bay to board the boat to the Aquarium. • 15-minute swim with dolphins. Snorkeling time at the coral reef. • Lunch at the Aquarium restaurant. • Continue the voyage on the catamaran back to the marina and then to the hotel. • Night – Live music and Artistic show at the hotel. You will have time to talk with the staff and musicians to learn about their work and way of life. Day 5. Go to Baracoa!!! • After breakfast, transfer to Baracoa, the first village founded on the island. You will travel 146 miles (appx. 5 hours). • Accommodation at Villa Maguana, Baracoa or a private house. • Free afternoon. Day 6. Tour to Alejandro Humboldt National Park. • Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will go to Humboldt National Park, where you will enjoy nature, the Toa River and the sea. • Lunch (traditional lunch country style – the whole roasted pig on the stick) with other options like fried fish or fried chicken, previous coordination with the guide. • Night: Dinner in Baracoa at a private restaurant (paladar), transfer included. Day 7. Transfer to Holguin. • After breakfast, you will be transferred to Holguin City (a very scenic route, through the industrial area of Moa and the eastern countryside), it is a journey of 150 miles. • About halfway, you will stop for lunch at Cayo Saetia. Leisure time to enjoy the dream-like beaches, ride on horseback, or appreciate the beautiful surroundings. • After lunch you will continue to Holguin. • Check in at a private house. • Night, City Tour of Holguin and dinner at a private restaurant.
