‘I will love you’, ‘When you were sweet 16’, ‘The Green fields of France’, ‘The old

audiences worldwide for 39 years and return again for another great
night of Music, Songs and stories to the Kings Theatre, Portsmouth.
The FUREYS are responsible for some of the most stirring music ever to
capture the public imagination. Their folk based music has received
standing ovations in some of the biggest concert halls of the world and
they credit their musical ability to their parents, Ted and Nora, who were
well known musicians themselves. They encouraged their sons to play
music from a very early age and there was live traditional music in their
house almost nightly.
Their emotive songs stir many emotions… tears and laughter, sadness
and joy.

JUL FRI 7
A CELEBRATION OF THE KINGS
JUL WED 12 10:30AM - SCHOOLS
2:30PM - GENERAL ADMISSION
7:30PM
The sing along screening of the classic film starring John Travolta and
Olivia Newton-John is brought to you by the producers of Sing-a-Long-a
Sound of Music.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a T-bird or a Pink Lady but
never quite felt cool enough to pull it off? Well, now is your chance
to don those pink jackets, grease up those quiffs and let your
inhibitions go for an evening where you are the stars and remember
GREASE is the word...
The evening begins with your host leading a vocal warm-up before they
show you how to use your free interactive prop bag. You’ll even get a
chance to learn how to hand jive.
Then just sit back and watch Danny & Sandy and the gang, while singing
and dancing along to the lyrics as shown on the screen.
It couldn’t be easier... or more fun! Fancy dress is strongly encouraged
and full audience participation essential.
Free fun pack on the night.
To mark the centenary of the First World War the Kings Theatre in
conjunction with Millstream Productions and Gateways to the First World
War are a holding a celebration event. The Kings Theatre remained open
throughout the war, providing solace and comfort and a chance to forget
about the horrors of war for a few hours.
More people during the war went to the theatre than read poems, with
powerful messages sent out via the theatre and music halls. Theatre and
performance helped shape people’s understanding of the conflict, and was
a propaganda tool for recruitment and raising the population’s morale.
The event will include guest speakers from the University of Portsmouth
and the University of Kent and feature popular entertainment of the time.
Pupils from St Georges Beneficial School have also created a
documentary film about the theatre between 1907 - 1918 through
research gathered by volunteers, to include archive material and
interviews with historians. This has been funded by the Heritage Lottery
Fund and will be screened as part of the celebration.

Zoe Squires is a painter working in Overton, Hampshire.
Expansive ‘spacescapes’ hint at the vast and ‘yet to be

imagines what space might have to offer, and space
technologists focus their brilliant minds to devise technology
to achieve those dreams. Curiosity plus technology results
in awe-inspiring space art.

From the writer of smash hits Calendar Girls and Kinky
Boots comes the feel good, Olivier Award-winning
MADNESS musical, OUR HOUSE.
On the night of Joe’s 16th birthday, a split-second
decision forces him to choose between himself and his
heart. As two very different paths unfold before him, the
consequences of that choice will change his life forever.
Set to a score of MADNESS hits including “It Must Be
Love”, “House of Fun”, “Baggy Trousers” and “Our House”, this
hilarious, high energy musical will have you singing and
dancing in the aisles…Welcome to the house of fun!
