These wonderful scholarship results and all our
other offers reflect the hard work put in by our Y6
girls during their time at Glendower and also the
high standards of teaching from my brilliant staff.
From the moment that your daughters arrive here,
we prepare them gradually and carefully for the 11+
process and I strongly believe that this preparation
is now more comprehensive than ever.

Y2 TRIP - THE HORNIMAN MUSEUM
Year 2 had a fantastic trip to the Horniman Museum
this week! As part of our learning in Design and
Technology, we took part in a workshop about
traditional toys around the world. In this workshop
we explored the design, function, technology and
creative re-use of available materials. We also got
hands on with the toys and tried them for ourselves!
The Museum had many displays such as the Music
Gallery, where we saw an enormous collection
of musical instruments (1300 objects!). We also
enjoyed walking around the Natural History Gallery,
packed full of skeletons and fossils of many animals
and plants and took a journey through rivers, seas
and oceans in the Horniman’s Aquarium.
One of our favourite parts of the day was ‘Plantastic’!
This interactive exhibition allowed us to explore
the miniature world of plants on a massive scale. We
had a fantastic day and would highly recommend
this visit to others!

Y4 TRIP -NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM
On Friday,13th February, Y4 went on a school trip
to the Natural History Museum.
We first visited the ‘Wildlife Photographer of the
Year’ Exhibition, where we could choose a picture
and answer a questionnaire on it, for example,
where does it live? What does it eat? What species
is it?
We could then sketch a photo in the new sketch
books we were given by Miss Tattersfield.
After that we went to the Mammals Hall where we
could continue sketching the animals. I sketched a
maned wolf, a jaguar and a scorpion.
It was a great trip. Thank you to Mr van Rooyen,
Miss Tattersfield, Miss Paton and Miss Semple for
taking us.

FRENCH VIDEO CLIPS
ON FAIT DES SANDWICHS
Thank you and congratulations to the many girls
who sent me some really impressive short video
clips over the holidays. I was thrilled to see how
confidently you could all speak French in front of a
camera and how well you could use the vocabulary
we had learned in class.
Well done for having a go and for some impressive
results:
Reception: Daphne and Ava Slesinger (La grosse de
neige, la piscine et à la boulangerie) Wellington
Year 2: Laeticia Gibbs (Mon igloo) Marlborough and
Estefania Rodrigo-Rajiyah (Je fais les courses pour
mon anniversaire) Gordon
Year 3: Ines Hansen (Je me présente) Gordon
Year 4: Eva Nagle (Mes vacances de ski) Wellington,
Maddie Stoll (Le dejeuner, L’étoile de bronze et sur
les pistes) Marlborough and Eleanor Hill-Wood
(mon poème) Gordon
Year 5: Tia Patel (Mes passe-temps préférés)
Wellington, Allegra Slesinger (La grosse de neige,
la piscine et à la boulangerie)/ Wellington, Asyah
Heidar (J’aime la mode) Marlborough
Year 6: Dilia Thovez (Je fais une réservation)/Gordon
Please note it is still possible to send a short clip to
earn points for your house during the next holidays.
The short video clip has to be between 45 seconds
and 2 minutes and can relate to any topics that we
have learned about in class. The girls should speak
French only and not read a script. It does not have
to take place in a French speaking country.
House points (up to 2 for one video) will be granted
for the performance, I will be looking for: flow, use
of facial expression, props, voice, pronunciation and
content.
Bonne chance
Madame Metro
In our French lesson last Friday,Y3 made sandwiches
and we had to talk for 1 minute, in French, about
how we made them. After we made our sandwiches
we got to eat them! We had to list our ingredients
and Madame Metro videoed us. It was really good
fun and we all wore chef hats! Most people enjoyed
a savoury sandwich.
