THOMAS JENKINS
Thomas Jenkins (born 1980) is a British designer based in Oslo, Norway. Thomas currently
divides his time between his own studio and
the branding agency Work. Thomas attended
London South Bank University where he graduated from a degree (1st class honours)
in Engineering Product Design in 2002.
His career started immediately afterwards
working for Dyson appliances, until 2006
when he moved to Oslo as a Senior Designer
for Frost Produkt. On his return to Oslo,
Thomas began working on some self initiated
projects whilst freelancing for TBWA\Oslo.
This continued until late 2011 when Thomas
was asked to run the MA design course at the
National Academy for the Arts in Oslo (KHiO).

ACCORDING TO ITS DESIGNER :
« OTHERWISE EQUAL is a family of candle
holders where mass takes priority over form.
Each item has an identical mass of 20 0 grams
and so each item only dif fers from the next in
the material used; Aluminium, inox and brass.
Their heights are therefore a result of the
density of the material. »
One weight, three measures », this series
of candleholders OTHERWISE EQUAL is a
ref lection on the density of the material. The
use of aluminium, stainless steel and brass
have generated the dif fering propor tions
creating an elegant and rhy thmic ensemble.
OTHERWISE EQUAL is suitable for standard
candles (Ø 21mm).
