Notes from the teacher:
Thank you so much for the Wishing Well supplies.
The donations are beyond appreciated! If you missed back to
school night or the Wishing Well, the list is posted on my website.
It is updated so that all the supplies that I have received have
been taken off of the website. Also, students learned about
Frontrowed.com which is a math and ELA website. Please feel
free to have students work on this at home if they would like to.
It will help them a lot in both math and language arts. We are
mainly looking at math right now. Finally, starting next week I will
be checking homework logs on a regular basis to make sure that
homework has been turned in and done. I like to give students a
“learning window” and starting next week students will beging
to lose recess to finish homework that has either
been forgotten or not finished at home.

This weeks round up:
This week we finished up our MAP testing. We still have a few students left to make-up a test but
we are mostly done. In Language Arts this week we started on Routines and Procedures within the
classroom. We will continue to work on this over the next two weeks to really get the routines established.
We also worked on Adjectives this week and will take a quiz on Monday. In Math, we started continued on
our new unit, Place Value. We expanded and discussed comparing large numbers and writing out the three
different forms: standard form, expanded form, and word form. The students are beginning to understand
the Place Value chapter better this week. In Social Studies, we talked about California and the four
different regions that exist in California. We also learned about Latitude and Longitude. In Science, we
continued to learn about Energy and the difference between Kinetic and Potential Energy. We watched
several videos and wrote a quick paragraph on their understanding. Today I was Mad Scientist. I showed
the students what a chemical reaction is with two solutions. We made a baking soda and vinegar volcano.
Next week we will start Mad Scientist with the students. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend!
