Poll Everywhere - Signing Up and Dashboard Basics
Poll Everywhere is an online poll generator, where votes are collected via text messaging or web browsers
in real time, enabling polling of students with quick responses. Collected data can be displayed on a web
page or in PowerPoint. Images, formulas, and foreign languages are supported, making the uses for Poll
Everywhere extensive.
To begin, navigate to http://www.polleverywhere.com/.
In order to save the polls you make, you must create an account.
This is recommended. This tutorial will show you how to set up
an account and the use the features of your account homepage.
However, if you already have an account or would simply like to
create a quick poll, see the Creating a Poll tutorial.
Creating an Account:
In the upper right corner of the Poll Everywhere home page, there is a “Log
in” and a “Sign up” button. If you already have an account, you can log in and
skip this tutorial. If you do not have an account, click “Sign up”.
A window titled “Free plan sign up” will appear.
The Higher Ed Free Plan enables you to give polls where you
may collect up to 40 responses. If you need to have polls where
there will be more tha 40 responses, you will need to use a paid
plan.
Each paid plan comes with additional upgrades and functionality
of Poll Everywhere. These can be viewed at www.polleverywhere.
com/plans. Explaination of functions of paid plans are not in the
scope of this tutorial.
Please note: UW-Stout Learning Technology Services (LTS)
does not provide funding for Poll Everywhere paid plans.
When the “Free plan sign up” window appears, enter your
information in the corresponding boxes.
If you are an instructor, check the “I am an educator” box.
Make sure to check the “I agree to the Terms of Service and
Privacy Policy” box before clicking the red Sign Up button.

After clicking the Sign Up button, you should be redirected to your account homepage, where all of your polls
are housed. If you are not redirected, click “My Polls” in the upper right corner of the screen.
The image below shows what your account dashboard looks like. At this point, since you have just signed up,
you will have no polls in the main list area.
On the left hand side of the page, there is a sidebar that allows you to perform various functions within Poll
Everywhere.
To start the process for constructing a poll, click Create Poll. This process
is covered in the Creating a Poll tutorial. The My Polls button, if clicked, will
not do anything until you have saved some Polls. Account Polls is a feature
available only if you upgrade your plan. Therefore, it is not discussed in this
tutorial. (Note: LTS does not provide funding for Poll Everywhere paid plans).
Clicking Question Library will open another page
with a list of subject areas from which you can
choose questions. When you click on a subject
area, it will show you subsections so you can find a
question to use more easily.
Clicking the Polls button on the left side of the header
bar, will take you back to your dashboard. This works
the same way as the My Polls button described above.

The Reports and Participants features are available only if you upgrade your plan. Therefore, they are not
discussed further in this tutorial. (Note: Again, LTS does not provide funding for paid plans to Poll Everywhere).
By clicking the Settings button, you can change your
account information such as your username, email,
password and name. You can also change Poll Settings,
such as having a template poll to use. This would also
be where you would come to make changes to account
information concerning a paid plan, such as credit card
information.
On the right side of the header bar, by clicking the
Pricing & Upgrades link, you will be taken to a page
that compares the features and prices of various Poll
Everywhere plans (Remember, LTS does not provide
funding for these plans).
Clicking the Help link will take you to the frequently
asked questions page. Here, you can see common
questions, and click on them to see the answer. You
can also search a question to see if it has been asked.

The Report function of this toolbar is only accessible if you have an upgraded version of Poll Everywhere.

responses that you got under a titled response history. To do this, select one or more polls and click the Clear
Results button, and in the window that appears, title that response history and click okay. The history can be

To delete a poll, simply check the box of the poll to delete and click delete. In the window that appears,
confirm that this is the poll you would like to delete.
By checking more than one poll and clicking the Edit Multiple button, you can apply changes to more than
