IN MEMEORY OF MARY FRIESEN
At the age of 76 our mom passed away peacefully on May 14, 2016 at
the St.Boniface Hospital.
She is survived by her husband John and their two daughters, two
sons, seven grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
She was preceded by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Mom was born on February 15, 1940 to Jacob and Helena Dyck.
Mom grew up in Pansy area with her siblings.
Mom and Dad were married on May 22, 1960 in Steinbach and shortly
after moved to Winnipeg. They have four children John, Pearl (Phil)
and their family Jessica, Amanda and Victoria; Audrey (Perry) and
their family Harley and Halle; Mark (Leslie) and their family Kaitlyn
and Parker. In 1974, our family moved to Grunthal, where mom
worked as a nurses aid at the Menno Home for 23 years. Mom loved
her job caring for people. She worked hard and made lasting
friendships with her co workers,
Mom accepted Christ at age 29, and was baptized as a proclamation
of her faith on January 21, 1973. Mom had a deep, meaningful and
personal faith.Mom enjoyed showing people she cared through being
a warm host, always offering homemade baking, tea and coffee and
good conversation. Mom and dad appreciated having company for
lunch or faspa on Sundays. She took joy in baking, especially buns,
cinnamon buns and chocolate chip cookies. Other things she enjoyed
were caring for her gardens, canning, spending time with her family
and sharing her experiences with us. Holidays were important to Mom
because it brought us all together. She showed us how much she
loved us by the time and effort she put into these events. Mom
delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. She made each
one feel special and loved by the relationship she built with them. She
was spirited and compassionate woman and brought laughter to our
lives. Mom has left a legacy of strength, understanding and
unconditional love.
