By Plane Around 200 international flights a day arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, which is situated 19 km from the centre of Helsinki and can be reached by car in approximately 25 minutes. You can also take taxi, the Finnair airport bus or Bus 615 to the Central Railway Station. A taxi to the city centre costs approximately 35-40 Euros. CREW TRAVEL INFORMATION RIGA The capital of Latvia, Riga is the largest city in the Baltic States. It is also one of the largest cities of the Eastern Baltic. The Latvian national airline, airBaltic (www.airbaltic.com ), provides convenient connections with more than 40 Interline partners from more than 3,000 cities across the world. Nineteen airlines (airBaltic, Aeroflot, Aerosvit, Belavia, CSA Czech Airlines, Finnair, LOT, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Ryanair, Transaero, Turkish Airlines, UTair, Uzbekistan Airways, Windjet, WIZZ, and Smartlinx) operate regular flights to Riga. The ferry terminal building is located at Eksporta iela 1, directly northwest of the Presidential Palace and 500m from Old Town. By Train Train connections to Riga are available from Moscow (twice daily in summer), St. Petersburg (daily), and Pskov (daily), operated by the Latvian State Railway Company Latvijas Dzelzcelš (www.ldz.lv ). Northern and southern road links have recently been modernized. The speed limit is 50 km/h in urban areas and 90 km/h on rural roads, if not marked otherwise. On some highways the speed limit is 100 km/h. Headlights must be switched on at all times. Seat belts are compulsory. Mobile phones may be used only with a headset/hands-free system while driving. Parking in downtown Riga costs 1-4 LVL (1.40–5.70 EUR) per hour. Guarded parking is recommended at night. Taxi in Riga The official maximum tariff per km is 0.50 LVL (0.71 EUR). The initial tariff is 1.50 LVL (2.13 EUR). Taxis can be booked by calling 8383 or 8000 1313 for Red Cab, and 8500 or 2000 8500 for Baltic Taxi.
