Parents / Guardians are responsible for ensuring the safe entry and exit of their children from the car park to the facility and vice versa.

Equipment:
We require help with the equipment for the following class times:
Wednesdays: 5:40pm & 8:45pm - All competitive classes
Fridays: 5:40pm - All competitive classes
Saturdays: 12:45pm - All 11.30am recreation classes
All gymnasts must be present in the gym to help with the equipment set-up or putting away of equipment before exiting the gym. We also welcome
the help of parents with the equipment as the quicker the equipment is setup or put away, the more training time is made available to the gymnasts.
Gym Maintenance:
We request that each and every gymnast make a conscientious effort to be responsible for his or her own clean up as well as h elping out with a
daily 'power clean' at the end of each training session. This entails picking up rubbish, drinking bottles and brushing up chalk spills in the
gymnasium and changing rooms. All gymnasts should ensure that they bring all personal property home with them. Coaches will monitor the use of
chalk and ensure that drinking bottles, bar loops and grips etc. are not left around the gym.
Drinks & Food:
No food is allowed in the gymnasium at any time. If gymnasts are given breaks, they can eat a small healthy snack in the chan ging rooms.
Gymnasts are allowed to bring in their own water bottle (only water allowed) and leave it in the designated area for the entire session. Please
ensure that all drink bottles are in spill proof containers.
Attire and Grooming:






Gymnast’s clothing- Tracksuit bottoms or shorts with a tucked in t-shirt are best for the boy's recreation class. Leotard and leggings (over
the leotard) are best for girl's recreation class but if they do not have these, tracksuit bottoms or shorts with a tucked in t-shirt. Competitive
Classes should dress in a leotard with gymnastic shorts or leggings. Please ensure there are no buttons, zippers or anything that can
catch on equipment or injure the gymnast or coach during their training session.
Gymnast’s footwear- Bare feet or gymnastic shoes are the safest and only accepted footwear. Socks are not allowed as they can cause
the child to slip. If your child has any medical concerns with his / her feet (Verruca's or open sores etc.), athletic tape or gymnastics shoes
must be worn.
Competition / Display performances- Members are expected to not only act but look respectable when representing the club. Please
remember that your demeanour, grooming and attitude represent the name Eccles Gymnastics Club and a high standard of behaviour is
expected of you.
Hair- Hair should be secured back off the face and neck with elastics and clips.
Jewellery- No jewellery to be worn by gymnasts - includes ear piercings, naval piercings and any other body piercing, rings, necklaces,
bracelets, watches etc. Any gymnast who is unable to remove piercings must inform the Head Coach who will ensure that an appr opriate
covering is placed over the piercing to prevent any risk of injury to the participant, the coach and others.
Fingernails- Long fingernails and toenails present a risk and must be kept short by gymnasts.
Personal Belongings:
Gymnasts must leave their shoes, bags and clothing in the changing rooms and not in the gymnasium. This is to ease congestion in the
gymnasium. All gymnasts should ensure that they bring all personal property home with them. Eccles Gymnastics club are not responsible for any
lost or stolen items in the facility. It is advisable for items of clothing to be clearly marked with the child's name.
There is a lost property box in the equipment room. At the end of each training session, coaches will deposit any items left in the gymnasium or
changing rooms for parents or guardians to reclaim. Please note that on the last day of each term, the contents of this box will be given to charity.
Behaviour:
Eccles Gymnastics Club nurtures and promotes values of equality, respect, tolerance and friendship. Any forms of discriminati on or bullying are not
tolerated. Gymnasts should be considerate to each other and work together as a team. Gymnasts should listen carefully when the coach is
speaking and follow their instructions.
Coaches follow the following steps for behaviour management when participants are not acting appropriately:



1st Offence: A verbal warning is given and the gymnast is told that the next time will equal a timeout for the remainder of t hat rotation.
nd
2 Offence: Gymnast has a time out for the remainder of that rotation. Another verbal warning is given that the next results in a timeout for
the remainder of that class.
rd
3 Offence: Gymnast sits out for the remainder of the class. Gymnast will be asked to rethink behaviour for next class. Parents are
notified.

Competitive Gymnasts:




All gymnasts must sign in (with the time) when entering the gym. The sign in book will be in a designated area
Should a gymnast be unable to attend a training session, their coach must be notified by text before the training session. Pl ease note that
training absences are monitored.
It is our policy that gymnasts from the competitive classes consider training at Eccles Gym Club to be a year around commitment. Your
commitment to a 12 month training cycle insures consistency in coaching and greater progress towards achieving goals.
The coach has the final say as to who competes based on their opinion of the degree of preparedness for the competition.
The competitive calendar is issued at the start of the gym year. It is important that if any gymnasts are unavailable to comp ete in any of
their competitions, that the coach is notified at the start of the year. Quite often gymnasts are competing as a team and it is important that
coaches are aware if gymnasts cannot compete so their team is not let down.
Parents are not allowed on the competition floor at any stage. Failure to adhere to this rule can result in the gymnast or team getting
disqualified from the competition.
Adult Gym:
Please bear in mind that while sometimes young, our coaches are certified and fully qualified to coach these lessons. The coaches will coach adult
gymnasts of any age. Please also bear in mind that some Eccles coaches also train in the Adult Gym class and from time to tim e may assist with
the coaching. Instructions on skills and technique etc. should only be taken by Eccles coaches.
