Next week we shall be looking for those pupils who are responsible learners. We have had yet another busy week here in school! The last of the Y6 groups finished their Bikeability on Monday, so now they understand how to ride safely on the roads. Pupil will be presented their certificates with feedback this afternoon in Celebration Worship. I have been very impressed with Y1’s home learning this week! The gardens that pupils have designed and made are absolutely wonderful! Thank you parents for taking the time to help them with this project. The results are amazing! If you would like to see the gardens, they are on display in the library area outside Willow Class. Holly Class have been very busy this week learning about animals. When I took some visitors in yesterday, we were asked about our pets, as the pupils were compiling tally charts! They also had a very special visitor this week called Fred. Fred is an African Thigh-Sprurred Tortoise owned by one of our Midday Supervisors. He is huge! He weighs 13kg (2 stone!). Thank you to Mrs Tyler for bringing him in, the pupils enjoyed meeting him and hearing all about how to look after him. In readiness for our VE Street Party next week, Y3 have been writing some poems. I was very moved by some of them. Well done Y3! Congratulations to Poppie, Grace and Imogen in Y5 who took part in football trials on Monday evening for a team that will cover the whole district. They have all got through to the next stage of the trials, so we wish them the best of luck! Well done girls! There was a PTA meeting on Thursday where we discussed the Summer Fair. DUE TO A CLASH WITH Y6 INDUCTION DAYS, WE HAVE MOVED THE DATE TO FRIDAY 17TH JULY. PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THE NEW DATE! There is also a need for volunteers to help on the day. If you will be available, please can you let Jenny Rayner, Lisa Evans or Charlotte Reynolds know. Thank you to Michelle Pillow for coming into school on Tuesday afternoon to take some new photos for us. These will be displayed, in due course, in the reception area. Miss Walledge has been working with a group of Y2 pupils writing descriptions of an owl. She has been very impressed by the level of the vocabulary they are using, and how enthusiastic they are to write. Well done Y2! REMINDERS FOR NEXT WEEK. We have a short week next week due to the Bank Holiday on Monday! Our School Improvement Advisor from KCC will be carrying out observations, looking at books and talking with pupils next Wednesday in each class. I will feedback to you next week what she says. This will be a great opportunity to show the improvements we have made since her last round of observations! Thursday 7th May is a normal school day. Our site is not being used as a Polling Station. On Friday afternoon at 2pm we are having our VE Day 70th Anniversary Street Party on KS2 playground. Everyone is welcome to come along! There will be entertainment provided by each class and the PTA are kindly providing some refreshments for the pupils. PUPILS CAN BRING IN RED,WHITE AND BLUE CLOTHES TO CHANGE INTO, BUT MUST COME TO SCHOOL IN THEIR SCHOOL UNIFORM! Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend! Mrs Phillips
