Discovering Soldiers Potential

Discovering Soldiers Potential
Welcome to DSP2. Our purpose is to
assist the service members in
understanding their military
educational benefits. Assisting service
members in determining their
entitlements is our ultimate goal.
Master Sergeant (Retired) Sandra Brownlee was born, raised and graduated from high School in LaGrange,
Georgia. She served as the epitome of the professional U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Soldier and
Non-Commissioned Officer throughout her distinguished 26-year career. In addition to training, teaching, and
mentoring hundreds of officers, non-commissioned officers, Soldiers, and civilians, she also spearheaded numerous
advances in TO&E and TDA leadership, management, and clinical practices throughout the AMEDD. For over
twenty years, Master Sergeant Brownlee has been either at the tip of the spear for Army medical operations…or
was charged with training those who were. She is the consummate professional Soldier who has consistently
worked above and outside her rank and expected skill set to successfully Conserve the Fighting Strength
MSG Brownlee military and civilian education includes PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, Air Assault School, Airborne
School, Expert Field Medical Badge course Flight Medical Aid Man Course; Medical NCO Course (91B30);
Instructor Course; Inspector General’s Course, the Master Fitness Course. She earned her Associate Degree from
Tennessee State and her Bachelor degree from the University of Phoenix.
Upon retiring she began notice a disturbingly large population of homeless veterans in her area. Being the leader
she is she developed DSP2 as a means of assisting these heroes in determining their educational, housing, and
counseling needs. The goal is to assist veterans in reestablishing themselves back into the communities they have
so carefully protected.
3 Step Career Phase Process
Phase 1
In Processing Station
Personal data questionnaire
This questionnaire is to determine the starting point of determining the level of educational benefits
the soldier may be entitled to under the Montgomery GI Bill or the Post 9/11 yellow Ribbon
Campaign educational program. The questionnaire also help us determine any personal assistance the
soldier may need prior to attending an educational program.
Determine eligible benefits by applying through the Veterans Administrative system VONAPP for
award letters
Phase 2
Revitalization Program
A. Once the soldier receives confirmation of his/her benefits, we assist the soldier in determining
which educational program will be suited to afford the soldier the best opportunity for career
advancement. We have studied and researched hundreds of educational systems and feel confident
that we can assist the soldier in selecting the educational program best suited for their future. We will
also assist with the administrative enrollment process if requested.
–Review benefits received
–determined educational benefits in correlation with award letter
–Assist in the selection of reputable educational programs
–Assist in the educational enrollment process
–Ensure veterans are receiving all entitlements including cost of living allowances.
3 Step Career Phase Process cont.
B. Determine additional needs
–Soldiers who have been displaced or is new in the community may have difficulty finding housing
and other basic needs. We have partnered with organizations and private parties to be able to provide
housing at a very minimal cost to the soldier. These housing opportunities can benefit both single
soldiers and those with family members.
–Adjusting to a new community is often challenging enough. We provide counseling classes to assist
with the transition from military to civilian life, dressing for success, motivational and esteem building
programs and other counseling benefits that will enhance the abilities of the already disciplined
soldier.
–Determine additional skills needed to secure future career path. Effective learning, effective
listening, fundamentals of attending school , study techniques and additional resources needed to be
successful
C. Phase 3
Success Phase
–Graduation success: We will devise an individual plan that will follow the soldier from beginning to
end in their quest to not only incorporate themselves in to their community but to also become a
viable member of their society.
–Job interview success: We have developed classes that assist in effective resume writing, job
interviewing skills (what not to say!), bringing your a game to the bargaining table, and “landing that
job”
–Job placement success: The goal of this company is to educate soldiers and place them into
successful employment. We have partnered with companies who have made a commitment to hire
soldiers who have enrolled in DSPII and upon completion of the educational process will have a skill
that is in high demand in the community and will benefit the individual employer.
Sponsorship Packages
There will be veterans who may not qualify for educational benefits and or housing assistance. Their needs
do not change due to this. We have developed sponsorship packages for those who want to be there as a
