In just the second day here in Guatemala, I have learned
more about God’s love for his children than I have in
many of my years in Houston. I am overwhelmed with
joy, peace, and love by encountering God’s people
throughout the schools, churches, and streets. My
struggles and worries back home seem insignificant in
comparison to the life of many here in Guatemala. Life
here is unparalleled.
En tan solo el segundo día aquí en Guatemala, He
aprendido más sobre el amor de Dios hacia sus hijos que
en todos los años que tengo en Houston. Estoy abrumado
con alegría, paz, y amor por cada encuentro con el pueblo
de Dios a través de las escuelas, iglesias, y las calles. Mis
dificultades y preocupaciones en mi casa parecen
insignificantes en comparación con la vida de muchos
aquí en Guatemala. La vida aquí es incomparable.
There have been several moments where God has
touched my heart and given me comfort, but I want to
share one in particular. On Sunday, we held a young
adult retreat here in Quiche and I was a small group
leader of about ten kids. After one of the missionaries’
testimonies we had a chance to reflect and share our own
experience about the theme that was given. A young girl
humbly opened her heart to the group and shared her life,
the struggles of her family, and even gave details about
personal battles she deals with. I was in awe of her
passion. When she spoke I could sense her speaking from
a place of sincerity and genuine love for God. I later
found out she is a catechist in the local parish and helps
share the faith with her community. How inspiring she is
to me, that only at the age of 14, her faith and actions
spoke to me and caused me to reflect if I share the same
passion within my own community.
Han habido varios momentos donde Dios ha tocado mi
corazón y me dio comodidad, pero quiero compartir un
en particular. El domingo, llevamos a cabo un retiro para
los adulto jóvenes aquí en Quiché y era el líder de grupo
pequeño de unos diez niños. Después de uno de los
testimonios de los misioneros tuvimos oportunidad de
reflejar y compartir nuestra propia experiencia sobre el
tema que le fue dado. Una joven humilde abrió su
corazón para el grupo y compartido su vida, la lucha de
su familia, y hasta dio detalles acerca de batallas
personales con las que trata. Estaba admirada de su
pasión. Cuando ella hablaba podía sentirse su sinceridad
y amor genuino por Dios. Más tarde me enteré que era
catequista en la parroquia local y ayuda a compartir la fe
con su comunidad. Que inspirador fue para mí, que sólo
a la edad de 14 años, su fe y acciones me hablaron y me
hicieron reflexionar sobre si comparto la misma pasión
dentro de mi propia comunidad.
I know the Lord has given me this opportunity to be here
at the mission for a reason, and I believe it could be to
experience just how much He loves us all in our own
way.

aquí en la misión por una razón, y creo que es para
experimentar cuánto El nos ama a nuestra propia manera.

what it is like. The Psalms are at the heart of the
Bible. They help us deepen our prayer in every
situation of our lives because they are the heartfelt
prayers of other people like us and God’s reassuring
response. No matter what happens, He is always
beside us to strengthen us to go on.
Each session lasts about 90 minutes with a video and
