League of Women Voters of New Jersey
Appoints Interim Executive Director
Trenton, NJ - The League of Women Voters of New Jersey's Board of
Directors is pleased to announce Jesse Burns will serve as interim
Executive Director.
Jesse has worked for the League for over eight years as the Director
of Communications and Projects. In that capacity, Jesse has worked
to implement communication strategies, expand our outreach, raise
our visibility, coordinate fundraising campaigns, and strengthen our
advocacy efforts. She also serves as the staff liaison to the Young
Jesse Burns
People's Network and heads the League's internship program, taking a
special interest in mentoring the League's future leaders. She will continue this work in her new
role, as well as work closely with the Board of Directors to lead the League of Women Voters of
New Jersey.
"The Board of Directors is thrilled Jesse has accepted the interim Executive Director position,"
said Nancy Hedinger, President of the League of Women Voters of New Jersey. "Jesse has
demonstrated her commitment to the League's mission and has a thorough understanding of the
needs of our members. We are confident she will continue to serve our organization well."
Jesse lives in Asbury Park with her husband, is a graduate of Dickinson College, and holds a
Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from Drew University. In addition to her work with the League,
she is a published poet.
