Dust off those dance shoes and get back on the floor! Christina is taking you on a trip down memory lane as we
celebrate those Saturday nights spent out on the town dancing the night away! Participants will learn to identify
song tempo as well as a little bit of history of various dances. Styling techniques and basic steps for the group’s
favorite dances will also be taught.

Craft Beer breweries are popping up everywhere and there are several beers that have been around for
generations. Learn about the different types of beer and the beer making process. Each class will have a unique
theme. In February, Aileen will be discussing a new trend in the beer making business where companies are
creating beers that mirror adult beverages and popular soda flavors. As we move in to summer, April’s class
will revolve around fruit flavored beers such as Raspberry Wheat or Lemon Shandy. Participants will get to try
a variety of samples at both classes. Cheers!

Blintzes, also known as French crepes, are thin and delicate pancakes that can be filled with anything you like
such as fresh fruit, chocolate sauce, or even whipped cream. Blintzes can be a good breakfast or even dessert.
They can be served rolled up and filled with jam, honey, fruit, or yogurt too. Blintzes are a delicious and
satisfying snack any way they are served and at any time of day! Join Merav as she whips up some of her
favorite flavors for participants to try!

Bob Nye is a Physical Therapist with Restorative Therapy. Bob will be hosting a weekly class where he will
provide instruction in engaging core muscles which are needed for balance and coordination. These muscles
create stability and lessen your fall risk. He will educate participants on the benefits of having a strong core.
Bob will also provide the most beneficial exercises for residents specific to their level of physical ability.

Chef Josh will be hosting a monthly cooking demonstration based on a specific theme. In January, he will be
hosting the “Power of Pomegranate”. In February, as Florida celebrates the Strawberry Festival, we will
celebrate “Strawberry Treats”. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day we will celebrate “Irish Cooking”. In April, we will
explore the Greek Isles and enjoy “Mediterranean Dishes”. We hope you will join us for a delicious sampling of
Josh’s cooking!

Flower Arrangements can range in size, shape, and function. The placement and style of the arrangement will
dictate the type of vase that should be used and will narrow the list of flowers that would complement the
design. After displaying various types of arrangements, Wendy will create one specifically for our Lobby.

Bob Nye from Restorative Therapy will be hosting a monthly health seminar where he will discuss various
topics. In the month of January, Bob will be speaking about Goals for Wellness to help motivate participants to
start 2017 as healthy as possible. In February, in honor of Heart Month, Bob will be discussing Blood Pressure
and holding a Blood Pressure Clinic. March is Kidney Month and as the spring approaches staying properly
hydrated will become even more important. In April as more activities occur outdoors, it is essential to stretch
and exercise core muscles to improve balance and coordination. Bob will provide exercises, best practices, and
helpful information to ensure the New Year will start out right!

Patricia has designed this class specifically for our Gardens residents in order to provide a fun and exciting
opportunity to increase their range of motion and strength. Participants will hold discussions and even
coordinate their movements with music throughout the different classes. Each class focuses on hand-eye
coordination and strength training. Participants are able to stand or sit during this energetic fitness class.

This class is an entertaining and dynamic program that combines past memories with current topics. This
innovative class provides an opportunity for residents to reminisce, learn, and discuss in a relaxed and fun
atmosphere. The class will include watching short videos relevant to the time and topic, lively discussions
revolving around the topic, and of course story telling! This is your time to relive powerful moments in your life
and share those amazing stories with others.

Lisa has a passion for anything art related. She loves making holiday themed centerpieces and door decorations
as well as one-of-a-kind paintings. Lisa also loves putting glitter on everything! Lisa will use her creative spirit
to create a sample prior to each class and then will give step by step instructions to creating a perfect
masterpiece! Participants will little to no artistic ability will love this class just as much as the professionals!

Margaritas have evolved over the past years to include exotic flavors, glass garnishes, and additional liquors. As
this has become an increasingly complex beverage of choice, each month this class will explore the different
varieties of margaritas. In January to combat the winter blues, the class will enjoy pomegranate margaritas.
February 22nd is National Margarita Day so the class will focus on traditional flavors both on the rocks and
frozen. March’s class will be focused on a “Shamrock-Arita” for St. Patrick’s Day! With spring in the air and
strawberries everywhere, April will be all about strawberry margaritas and spring garnishes!

Passover is a celebration of the deliverance of the Jewish people from slavery. It begins at sunset on April 10th
and runs through Tuesday, April 18th. Discover the history and the traditions associated with his religious

Lisa has designed a dance fitness class that will make exercising fun for everyone! Lisa uses songs from the
40’s & 50’s all the way up to the 80’s to motivate participants to exercise on beat and to push themselves to

blend of cardio and strengthening exercises.

Bob Nye is a Physical Therapist with Restorative Therapy. Bob will be hosting a weekly class where he will
provide instruction in controlled body movements which improve balance and coordination and can lead to a
reduction of falls. He will explain the benefits of Tai Chi stretches and provide the most beneficial exercises and
poses for participants whether in a chair or standing. The controlled movements associated with Tai Chi lead to
healthy muscles, reduction in stress, and increased energy. The low-impact movements make this a highly
suggested program regardless of age or physical ability.

This is a class where everyone can participate! Tap your feet and feel the rhythm from the comfort of a chair. In
this class, participants will start with basic dance steps and gradually combine those steps into routines
choreographed to favorite songs. As the class progresses, participants will develop muscle memory which is
great for engaging the brain. Most importantly, participants can exercise the body while socializing with friends.
This is a whole body fitness class!

Spring is just around the corner and to warm things up Wendy wants to help everyone create a beautiful wreath.
Wendy will explain each step in the process and how participants should select their greenery first, followed by
their favorite flowers, and then finished with accessories. The final touch is the perfect bow and Wendy will
demonstrate how to create an easy, yet elegant, bow that can be recreated for any occasion.

Zumba Gold is a version of Zumba which is a dance fitness program. Zumba Gold is specifically designed to
meet the physiological, psychological, and anatomical needs of the senior population. The choreography in
Zumba routines is created to complement Latin styles of music and can be performed standing up or sitting
down. Each week participants will learn steps and create routines. As each routine is mastered new ones will be
introduced to correspond to new songs. Zumba Gold is taught by a certified instructor and is intended for all
levels of physical ability.

Watermark University Faculty
Christina Barzelay
Christina is the Community Life Director at The Watermark at Trinity. She is a graduate of the
University of South Florida with a Master’s in Medical Sciences. Christina is also certified by the
state of Florida as an Alzheimer’s and Dementia trainer. She is very adventurous and loves to be
active. Christina is a competitive Ballroom Dancer. She enjoys all things chocolate, going on
cruises, and spending time with her yellow Labrador Retriever, named Cooper. Christina loves to
laugh and has been known to start dancing in the hallways just to put a smile on a resident’s face!
She refers to herself as the “Fun One” because if she is having fun everyone around her is sure to
be having fun too!
Aileen Carlson
Aileen is the Executive Director at The Watermark at Trinity. She has been with the Watermark
family for over 15 years. Aileen is joining the Trinity team from our sister property, The Fountains
of Boca Ciega Bay, where she started in Community Life and worked her way up to Executive
Director. Aileen is married and has 2 children, Tessa and Brendan. She graduated from the
University of Florida. Aileen enjoys reading, watching sports (especially Gator Football),
exercising, and she is the team manager for Tessa’s competitive soccer team.
Lisa Damianakis
Lisa is personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and loves creating fun
workouts with great upbeat music. She has over 20 years of experience as a dance educator and
incorporates rhythm and flexibility exercises into her classes. Lisa also loves art. She has a
Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida which inspires her to create
colorful and fun art projects that bring everyone together. Lisa pours her heart into each exercise
and art class she teaches because she is focused on making everyone smile and bringing a little
happiness to everyone’s day!
Merav Halevi
Merav is the Human Resource Director and Business Office Manager at The Watermark at Trinity.
She is a Certified Human Resource Manager with over 15 years of HR and business management
experience. Merav has two beautiful children Avi, 25 and Danielle, 23. Merav loves to spend time
with her family, friends and favorite canine, named Rusty. Merav also loves to travel, cook, bake,
practice hot yoga and Zumba.

Mike Hickey
Mike Hickey is the driver for The Watermark at Trinity. He is a semi-retired former college
professor, high school science teacher, and HVAC specialties sales engineer. Mike holds a
Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University and Master of Science Degree from Mississippi State.
He has three children and two grandchildren. Mike is a social butterfly and enjoys driving the
residents around town so he can hear all of their amazing stories. When not driving residents, Mike
enjoys traveling and good food. Pastimes have included racing and cruising sailboats, fishing,
kayaking, tennis, golf, coaching wrestling, and shooting skeet.
Carrie Ingber
Carrie is a certified Zumba & Zumba Gold instructor. She took up Zumba as a way to regain some
strength after an accident but it has given her so much more. Zumba combines her love of music
and dancing in one activity which also happens to be great exercise and a wonderful social outlet.
After four years as a Zumba student, Carrie decided to share her passion with others and became
a certified instructor. Carrie has prepared routines and music so each class will be something new
to enjoy! When Carrie isn’t at a Zumba class herself or busy creating new routines, she is enjoying
time with family and her three adorable dogs.
Patricia Jadick
Patricia is a Registered Occupational Therapist that works for Restorative Therapy. She has over
30 years of experience and truly has a passion for seniors. She enjoys seeing her patients’ progress
and overcome their physical ailments. Patricia loves to travel and spend time with her family when
she is not assisting residents in the community.
Alex Leffingwell
Alex is the head dining room server at The Watermark at Trinity. Alex has been with the
community since the very beginning and has trained all of the other servers. After seeing Alex’s
talent during the Pumpkin Decorating Contest, he received many requested that he teach an art
class. Alex loves drawing and painting and has been doing both since the age of 5. Alex also enjoys
singing and telling jokes. He also loves animals so much that he is a vegan.

Josh Marlowe
Josh is the Executive Chef and Dining Service Director at The Watermark at Trinity. His culinary
career started in his mother’s kitchen at the age of 15. After graduating culinary school and
working at various restaurants, Josh found his way to our sister property, The Fountains of Boca
Ciega Bay. Josh began as a Sous Chef and as he worked his way up to Executive Chef he found
his calling for helping others. He left for 2 years to start his own restaurant in Fort Lauderdale but
realized he missed the family environment of senior living and came back to join the Trinity team.
Josh is married and has three children. He believes in creating food that ignites the senses. His
guiding principle for cooking is about getting back to the basics and creating dishes with simple
ingredients and seasonings. Josh is excited to cater to all of the residents and hopefully learn a few
new things along the way!
Carolyn Martinez
Carolyn is a Certified Nursing Assistant at The Watermark at Trinity. She has worked primarily
in The Gardens since July 2016. Carolyn has a passion for seniors and enjoys hearing their stories.
Carolyn enjoys spending time with her family especially her 2-year old daughter, Penelope. She
also loves exploring and is currently obsessed with the television show, Game of Thrones.
Rachel Miller
Rachel is a Certified Nursing Assistant at The Watermark at Trinity and she has been with the
community since the very beginning. Rachel is a senior at the University of South Florida and is
studying Health Sciences. She is engaged to the love of her life, Jacob. In her spare time, Rachel
enjoys shopping and watching Netflix. She has been a gymnast for over 15 years, danced for 8
years, and participated in cheerleading for 3 years. Rachel is very excited to share her passion of
dance and fitness with her residents.
Wendy Morrison
Wendy is the Sales Associate at The Watermark at Trinity. She has been in sales and marketing
for over 30 years. After 25 years in the designer fragrance industry, Wendy decided to change
fields and found her way to senior living. Working with seniors and their families to find the right
solutions for their needs was a great match for Wendy’s compassionate and caring heart. Wendy
is very family oriented. She has been married for 43 years and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
Wendy enjoys interior design, baking, walking, reading, and taking cruises in her spare time.

Bob Nye
Bob is the in-house Physical Therapist with Restorative Therapy. His goal is to ensure residents
are in a pleasant and professional environment where they can gain strength and learn how to live
a healthier and more active life. Bob credits being a part of the 1984 Olympic Games as one of the
best experiences of his life. He has been married to his wife Cheryl for 35 years who is also a
physical therapist. They have 5 children and 5 grandchildren!
Merissa Sass
Merissa is the Community Life Assistant at The Watermark at Trinity. She is very fun-loving and
active. It has been said that Merissa’s laugh is contagious! She prides herself on making each and
every day special for not only her residents but also her peers. She loves decorating and planning
special events. Merissa loves cats and has recently become hooked on cruising.
Walter Schlomann
Walter is an award winning filmmaker. His programs have aired on PBS, TV Land, History
Channel, MTV, Biography Channel, and Comedy Central. He has worked with stars such as
Michael Stipe and Cyndi Lauper. Walter has filmed helicopter scenes in the Australian Outback,
directed “Scotty” of Star Trek on a wild aerial ride through New York, and has even worked with
crocodiles, kangaroos, and mermaids! He is the president and creative director of Heritage Media
Group, the founder of Life-Stories Sharing, and president of Carrollwood Toastmasters Club.
Miriam Tennant
Miriam is the Director of Plant Operations at The Watermark at Trinity. She is very family oriented
and loves spending time with her wonderful husband, two children, and three grandchildren.
Miriam enjoys traveling and experiencing new places. She is very passionate and thoroughly
enjoys celebrating the holidays! Miriam has always been a very expressive person and painting
allows her to put her words on paper through the use of paint. She loves spending time with
residents and painting gives her an opportunity to help residents express themselves but also gives
her the opportunity to build a stronger relationship with the residents around her.

Adrian Williams
Adrian is a Certified Nursing Assistant at The Watermark at Trinity. Family is very important to
him as he is one of 11 children! Adrian is very close with his siblings as well as his mother. One
of his favorite things is family gatherings and where there are gatherings there is always food.
Adrian enjoys cooking and his competitive spirit constantly pushes him to do better, create bigger,
and try everything. In the future, Adrian hopes to travel the world and perhaps even become a
flight attendant.
Shanna Williams
Shana is a Concierge at The Watermark at Trinity. She is a native Floridian and attended the
University of South Florida. For many years Shana worked as an insurance underwriter and agent.
After spending 7 years in Tennessee as an office manager she returned to Florida to be closer to
family. Shana enjoys reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoys “living
tiny” in her RV.
Pat Zaegers
Pat is a tap dance instructor. She is a graduate from the University of South Florida where she
earned a degree in Exercise Physiology. Pat started dancing at the age of four. She has attended
tap conferences around the country where she is constantly picking up new material. Pat is
currently teaching children and adults in multiple dance studios in the tri-county area. She is
excited to bring tap dance to the community and looks forward to seeing the class develop over
time.
